Why You Should Write Daily Even if You Are Not a Writer

Benefits of writing you should know about

People always seem to have issues with writing. I know until now you must have read many articles about writing and journaling. But still, you’re not used to it. You’re always on the way to pursue writing as your daily habit, and some others are thinking it’s a waste of time.

If you are on your way to writing daily, I want to say that you will be in love with yourself once you have an explicit acknowledgment about it. You will start to understand yourself better. It’s a kind of habit you need to master in your life for the betterment of your thoughts.

An important thing to remember:

It takes a long time. It’s not that you will write for a week and then it will work out. Nothing in life works that way; you have to be consistent. It takes a long time which is something you need to understand.

It’s the same process as any new habit you want to master in your life. In the beginning, you need to push yourself. To maintain the grip of it, a little discipline at the start is a must. It will require significant effort if you want to become adept at it.

It’s also not a waste of time. It’s something you will understand; when you start, then you will be aware of its benefits. The problem is you read articles about it, but you don’t start. You keep nagging yourself from starting.

Simple rules when you start writing daily:

  1. Start simple: Start small. Start with 5 mins a day. Don’t try to change your life in a single day. Take baby steps, but take it. So, start now.
  2. Be consistent: Just take one step daily, no matter how small they are. Just put one step at a time and don’t lose hope. You can easily spare your time in writing. Don’t watch that movie for 5 mins and don’t scroll your social media for 5 mins. You can easily take out time if you want.
  3. Put a reminder: At the start, you will be motivated, but as time passes, you need to remind yourself. So, set reminders at proper times to remind yourself. Have one specific time maybe in the morning, evening, or any time which suits you.
  4. Be alone and have a proper place: Sit where you will feel energetic and be yourself. I want to be alone when I write. I feel more confident when no one is around. So, do what works for you.

Now, you know the rules, but the main question is what to write?

Write about everything and anything you can. There are immense thoughts in your mind that you need to know. You need to understand it and work on it. So, you can write about things like:

  • Events throughout your day.
  • Things that made you happy.
  • New songs in your playlist.
  • Your food.
  • Write about the novel you’re reading.
  • Go through your problems.
  • Something you learned new today.
  • A motivation thought that you read somewhere.

Pour your thoughts out in any form you can. If you are just a beginner, start with small may be few lines for some weeks, then a paragraph, then a page. Don’t give pressure on your first day. Start with 5 mins, that’s it. You finished.

You can pour your thoughts on any platform. It can be:

  • On Instagram, or any social media post.
  • A message to someone.
  • A journal entry.
  • An article about something.
  • A blog post about something.

So, write on any platform which suits you and be consistent. Consistent is the key to build something new.

Benefits of writing:

1. It Organises your thoughts

Our mind raises an immense number of thoughts each day. There are a lot of incoming and outgoing ideas. Someone says something, our mind understands something else, and we get trapped. We don’t know what is right. We can’t balance both at a time. So, we chase for one and lose others.

For better understanding, we need to know some third-person perspective towards it. So, writing gives clarity. When you write, you understand things in a much better way. It gives you a whole host of ideas. You are aware of things around you and get a better understanding of how it works.

Writing will give you a path, and your dilemma will be gone.

Just as food is a need of your body, writing is a need of your mind.

2. Deep understanding of things

You will find your goals through writing as you pour your thoughts on it. That dumping of ideas through writing will heal you and show you a clear path. You will get your purpose towards life. You won’t be in a split mindset anymore.

Now, you will understand your thoughts in a much better way. You can distinguish between the important and unimportant ones. So, you will eliminate the irrelevant, and work on the ones you value.

And your goal will be fixed. Once you are settled, then no one can drag you back from your success. You will set your focus, and you will keep going. There won’t be any full stop in your story. It will keep running.

Writing can do wonders, if only you start.

3. You will feel relaxed

Your mind will be relaxed. Your thoughts which were raising high in the sky will slowly touch the ground as your mind needs a base to sustain — an area to relax and regain a new soul.

There will be a feeling of ease, and your stress will alleviate. Your mixed feelings will go away. You will find writing removes the burdens from your heart and mind.

You will find a new you inside you. So, keep writing until you get those benefits. Once you arrive, you won’t stop writing.

It will be hard at first as you will feel like giving up at some point. Just drag yourself from that fear of quitting. And rise high in your mind with happiness and joy.

Challenge yourself to write daily for finding yourself.
