Why You Should Set A Theme For Each Week
Give this a try, it’s fun and eye-opening
My friend introduced me to setting weekly themes. He and his colleague used to set a theme for their week ahead every Sunday evening and it would then be something they would have to incorporate into their weeks.
Once he’d told me about this, I thought it would be interesting to try it out myself.
Natural
For one week, I chose the theme ‘natural’. I decided to keep my hair natural and not style it with heat, not wear any makeup that week and I didn’t eat any processed foods and stuck to mostly fruits and vegetables.
I felt reinvigorated after this week, there was something so refreshing about keeping my hair and face natural and eating clean natural food from the Earth.
Quiet
Another week I chose the theme of ‘quiet’. I didn’t listen to music or podcasts on my walks, I meditated for longer each day, and I also decided to become more of the listener as opposed to the talker.
Again, it felt really refreshing to do this, I could hear what was happening around me on my daily commute, I was inviting others to have more in-depth conversations with me, and I felt that my mind was less distracted during meditation.
Give it a try!
I really liked having a theme for my week because it felt like partaking in a challenge. It was interesting to see how I could change my habits for the week to fit into the theme I had chosen for myself.
Doing this also causes change within each week, you have the ability to switch up your daily habits and routines by introducing new things into your week, and in doing so, allow yourself to discover things you may not even have thought of had you not decided to challenge yourself.
This week my theme is Gold. It came to me while I was meditating and had the Sun shining on my face. Gold in a spiritual sense represents illumination and things that are precious.
For this week I will be focusing on making time for the relationships that are precious to me, spending more time in the sun and using this time for introspection and illuminating my shadow self, and bringing these habits to light allowing room for awareness and change.
I invite you to choose a theme for a week. It may not even have to be a huge change, something even as small as switching from coffee to tea but it’s a small habit that switches up your routine and could create potential lasting change.
