Why You Should Invest in Emotional Writing
Write Emotions. You May Help Someone

One of the hardest types of writing is emotional writing. So what exactly is expressive writing? This is when we share our positive and negative experiences in our lives. So you are putting your life experiences out there, which can be a horrifying thing to do.
The reason why you want to try emotional writing is that you may help people. There are those out there who have gone through the experiences you have gone through. People have bad relationships, a poor job environment, suffer from depression, are battling diseases, etc.
Your Experiences Matter
Our life experiences matter. By writing something about your life, you can help someone connect with their own life. They may see things from a different perspective, and you may help them through a challenging time.
You can write about any experience that you want. You should feel free to write down any emotion you wish to, as there will always be someone who understands what you are going through because they have probably gone through it themselves.
Make it Simple at First
You don't have to do anything too complex at first. Maybe you can write about a day at work and how you felt during that day. You could write about any experience in your life.
Once you feel comfortable talking about superficial topics, you might try something a little deeper about your life. Perhaps you've gone through an extremely bad breakup, or are battling some addiction, or battled addiction in your past.
This writing can be beneficial for those going through it, now and in the past. It's possible to change lives by talking about these experiences.
An Example
For example, I recently wrote about my parents' death. They died within one month of each other. While they were elderly, it was pretty challenging to go through. I wrote down my feelings as I went through that experience.
This was a very emotional and difficult thing for me to write. I literally had tears in my eyes when I wrote it. But, at the same time, it was very healing for me. I wanted to put those words on the page, but I could never gather the courage to do it. Now that I've written about that experience, it has helped me write about other experiences in my life.
Another example is talking about my Sleep Apnea and how you can live with your Sleep Apnea mask and get used to this contraption on your face every night. Just think about what I go through during the day. Now I have to wear a regular face mask when I go out, and when I go to sleep at night, I have to wear another mask. I can tell you, that is an endless joy!
Don't Babble
When you're right emotionally, make sure you don't babble. The writing should carry a deeper meaning and help someone. Remember that the experience you're writing about is not only about you. It's about the person you are writing to. The person you're writing to may have had this experience and wants to know how you handled it.
Don't Be Afraid
It may not be easy to write about your emotions. It could take a lot of effort before conveying them in the way you want. But, you should still not be afraid to try. It's these experiences in our life that other people are interested in. They go through them too. Your life is not uninteresting. We all have our ups and downs, and we have all had different experiences. Write about these experiences and help others.
You may find that this is some of the most wonderful writing that you can do. It’s difficult to do it, but it is more rewarding than you can possibly imagine.
