Why I Clap Only 49 Times? Take a Guess.

A question that someone is curious enough to finally ask today.

The story behind this happened over a month ago.

Where I was commenting on Martin Kessler’s Post.

We were talking about how we like to make numbers even out if we see it is odd.

Where we mentioned writing about giving only 49 claps.

At the time I just started to clap 49 times instead of 50.

The short answer is to make the one that is looking to see me and there is a psychological effect behind it.

Now why is that even important or worth the time doing it?

There’s more than one purpose to this.

Keep reading and I’ll let you know.

First, I think it is important for the one who is looking into who is clapping to see that I clapped 49 every time they see me.

Doesn’t that alone already stick in their mind?

If they are looking that means they pay attention to details and they care or are serious about their journey on Medium.

And isn’t that the key to the essence of a chance to succeed here?

And guess who was detailed enough to ask why I clap 49 times?

You Guess it, Daniel T.

What I found interesting at that we tend to like to make the number even out.

Not to put you on the spot Deidra C. but if you can come by and share your thoughts it will be great.

I clapped 49 times and Deidra clapped 11 times so it was 60, and then afterward I came back and did one more clap to make it 61. (if you see a 61 would you clap 9 or 19 to make it even?)

There is certainly a strong connection between us and numbers.

Take example 2, to prove the point is valid. These were the first 3 people clapped for this post here.

What we see is 21+25=46 and +4 =50 claps.

Final words.

Clapping 49 times over 50, let me be aware of what I am reading and if I should read a post.

Beucase it does take extra effort to do 49, you can try that for a month and see how it feels like.

And yes I do slip to 50 sometimes.

I took a timing and counted how long it takes to do 50 claps, take a guess how many seconds?

Image of my stopwatch on iphone

Yes, 10 Full seconds. Which, clapping 49 takes about 2 more intended seconds.

Every second in the 49 claps I am there with my full attention.

That way you’ll find who is searching and cares about you and themselves.

They will be the few who will always find a way when things don’t look so well out there.

Did you ever saw my 49 claps?

Thanks for Reading and Clapping All Along.
