I was not ready for how good Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour” would be. If I was 12–17 years old, this album would be the soundtrack of every secret fanfiction story I’d post on Wattpad.

The writing really sells it. I felt the themes of unrequited love, fear of rejection, and frustration with being young in today’s society — and I’m 26.

The Wikipedia entry for “Sour” says that she had a hand in writing most of the songs. Good for her!

The music was also giving me major Paramore and Avril Lavigne vibes. That’s probably why I was so into it; I loved those artists as a kid.

I don’t know what’s in the water over at Disney (Rodrigo’s most-known for starring in Disney series like Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) but they know how to pick a star.
