Why Writing in Medium is Good for Aspiring Writers?
Factors that Motivate and Enhance the New Writers
I started writing in Medium from just two months ago. I have earlier written stories and articles in my native language in my close circle. I started writing articles in English for the first time in Medium. For the last few months before I started writing, I have been following up the articles (at least the daily emails from Medium) and got fascinated to see many awesome articles in various topics. So finally I decided to venture into Medium with the following objectives.
- Enhance my writing skills in English
- To write articles in various topics to create a my own writing portfolio
- Connecting with a global audience and to see if my thoughts are really appealing to the circle outside my reach
How Medium makes me engaged?
Writing in Medium gets me a following: Writing an article in a popular platform like Medium gets an instant curiosity among one’s social circle. Your friends and colleagues may want to check how have you written your first article. So, most probably, the views for the first article may be high from your social circle. In the last six articles I have written, the appreciation for my first article is still higher than the subsequent articles.
Receding number of views pushed me to check where I stuck: The viewers from our social circle remains stagnant and we may start feeling that the count may be not be adequate for our articles for Medium’s curation and distribution. So, I started reading articles on how to write and market better!
Income figures from various writers may make me desperate: Even though writers from India cannot participate yet in Medium’s partner program, when I see the articles with the titles on how they made a four figure income a month etc., I go through that article and see if I can get any hint out of them.
The article published in a publication is a morale booster: If you can write an article good enough to get published in a publication that boosts your morale. You feel happy that someone has acknowledged and ready to publish your writing. This helps us keep trying with different publications. So far I have managed to get three articles published in popular publications.
Extremely brilliant articles show the long path ahead: When I see extremely brilliant articles written with so much detail and research, it makes me realize how long the journey is be to become an excellent writer. That helps me read more, learn more and write more!
So, if anyone wants to become a good writer, Medium is the best place. I hope this learning is there with all the aspiring writers in the platform, which will continuously enhance the quality of their writing and the content of the platform as a whole.
