Why Would Teenagers Attack An Old Man?
They beat the man to death
Teens should have fun without taking lives
What kind of sick action or hate would cause teenagers to attack an older man and fatally beat him. The victim was a 73-year-old man. The man died from head injuries sustained during the attack. Police are seeking seven teenagers who are suspected of being present at the time of the assault which happened in the early morning hours or the middle of the night.
ABC News reported that Philadelphia police were seeking seven teenagers who were suspects in the case of an attack on an older man who later died after being senselessly attacked.
The police had surveillance video which showed a group of teens chasing a person across a street in Philadelphia. One of the teens is seen throwing a traffic cone at the victim. Then a girl is shown picking up the traffic cone and throwing it at the victim repeatedly.
Another suspect is seen apparently filming the assault on a cellphone.
The victim was knocked to the ground after being struck several times. He was transported to a hospital where he died the following day.
There are four boys and three girls being sought by the police. There were at least two teenagers who took an active role in the assault.
The police asked for help from parents of the teens by stating:
“The message I would like to put out there is to the parents of these juveniles, if they are aware that their son or daughter is involved in this incident, I think that the best course of action would be for them to contact an attorney and then contact the homicide unit.”
A summer curfew for minors had just gone into effect in the area. It states:
Through Sept. 29, those between the ages of 14 and 17 are required to be home by 10 p.m. Previously, the latest some teenagers were able to be out was midnight. Those under 13 are required to be home by 9:30 p.m.
The modified curfew is an attempt to keep young people off the streets and safe during a high-crime season, officials said.
It is not known why the teenagers were out in the wee hours of the morning or why the man was in the street either.
Obviously, those teenagers were not adhering to the curfew. They got into serious trouble when they should have been home. Now they are accused of attacking a man, and some may face murder charges.
Laws are there for a reason. Laws and curfews should be followed.
