Why Would Anyone Ever “Key” Someone’s Car?

They are just totally mean

It is an act of total vandalism.

A man told the story of having his new luxury car keyed. That means that someone held a key and ran it across the side of the car. It makes a scratch in the car. The man was understandably upset because it was the first luxury car he had ever purchased, and it was brand new.

Has that ever happened to you? It happened to me once while I was parked in a parking lot of a doctor’s office. I came out and found that someone had made a scratch in the paint all along the driver’s side of the car. It was frustrating to think that someone would be so totally inconsiderate as to do such a thing to someone else’s property. It is usually a random act to someone they don’t even know. It is a criminal act.

Of course, there is generally no way of knowing who the perpetrator was. Unless there is video surveillance (which could be the case these days), it is difficult to catch anyone. They simply do their deed of vandalism and are long gone. They can do it nonchalantly so no one would notice. It would be hard to identify them.

Teenagers are often guilty of such vandalism. They think they are having fun when they destroy someone else’s property. It is a malicious act, and it is against the law. Adults obviously sometimes perform vandalism as well.

Now with the new style of car keys, they would not easily be able to key someone’s car with a car key. A house key still would do the trick.

The man mentioned who had bought the new car did not just find only one scratch along the side of the car. The person had made the scratches all over the car. It was a truly terrible person or people who would be brave enough to do that much damage without fear of being caught.

If the guilty parties had been caught, they would have been arrested. They would have paid fines or spent time in jail.

Ruining someone else’s property is not allowed and would be prosecuted if caught. The problem is that they are usually not caught for such acts of vandalism. There is no reason and no excuse for vandalism. It is a cowardly act.

Respect for others and their property should be a bigger part of life.
