Why “Wizard of Oz” Remains My All-Time Favorite Movie

Take your own Yellow Brick Road.

If you have never watched or even heard of the 1939 classic film “The Wizard of Oz,” then you must be living under a large rock.

The story is timeless. A cyclone causes a young girl from Kansas to find herself in the Land of Oz, a magical world where she meets a scarecrow, a tinman, and a lion, all the while trying to keep away from The Wicked Witch of the West and meet the Wizard at the Emerald City to return home.

Along the way, Dorothy follows the Yellow Brick Road. Even though the movie’s most famous quote tells us, there’s no place like home, the movie teaches us so much more. Life isn’t about the destination, but the journey. This reason alone is why the film remains my all-time favorite.

Enjoy the Process

Every day, we are always caught in the latest trend or trying to reach our goals. This is fine, but when we do so, we forget to stop and smell the roses.

Humans continue to want what’s next, but few hardly ever stop to be grateful for where they are. Some do, and if you’re one of them, pat yourself on the back.

If you’re not, take a look around. Be proud and grateful where you are, because I guarantee there are tons of others out there wishing to be where you are now. So don’t complain about it, embrace it.

And keep going!

There are days we want to give up along the journey toward our destination. We can’t do this. We have to keep going no matter what. Like the old saying:

“When you rest, you rust.”

The journey of life is a wonderful one, and we have to enjoy the process. We don’t do it for the destination. We do it for the journey.

I Follow My Own Yellow Brick Road

I have always been the kind of kid who does my own thing.

While others my age are doing the latest trend or being a part of cliques, I continue to stay myself because I love myself.

Plus, no one else is going to be me but me, so I might as well do it.

I’ve always taken my Yellow Brick Road in life. I’ve done what I wanted. I overcome adversity. I laugh at those who discourage me and then prove them wrong.

It’s how I am and how I will always be.

Medium Is a Yellow Brick Road Too

We all have our own paths in life, and on Medium. And like life, we have to keep going on Medium no matter what.

We have to enjoy the process and love what we do. If we don’t, there are plenty of others who will in place of us.

We all want our success on Medium, and by following our own Yellow Brick Road, we can do that. It takes dedication, determination, and consistency.

Closing Thoughts

No wonder why “The Wizard of Oz” is a timeless film, because it shares a timeless message.

No matter, take your own Yellow Brick Road in life and never let anyone tell you you can’t do something in this life.

Enjoy the process and the journey. And remember, if you ever feel discouraged or distraught, there’s no place like home.
