Why Winners Never Quit.
It’s logical AF.
There’s been something on my mind, and I have to let it out, here it is:
Quitting is stupid. Most of the time.
There’s this idea that quitting is freeing and that it’s all flowers and unicorns, it isn’t. Quitting a vice is amazing, you’re an alcoholic, you quit alcohol, and you live a better life. Eminem was addicted to drugs, he nearly overdosed, he quit using drugs, and now he lives a better life.
What you quit matters, quit drugs, quit being shitty, bottom line, let go of the toxic shit in your life.
Bobby you hypocrite, you’re listing all the reasons why quitting is good.
Firstly, no one likes a smart arse, and secondly, read on.
Life is a journey, and we all want to go somewhere, I don’t know where you want to go, but, the human desire to progress will never die. To finish a journey of 1000 steps, you have to keep walking.
Successful people are walkers. They walk and walk until they get what they want. Some of them walk fast, ergo, Billie Eilish, who achieved superstar status at 18, some of them walk slowly, for example, Eminem, who achieved superstar status at 29, after having a kid and a shitty marriage.
There is no shame in being a late bloomer, and there is no shame in blowing up early. We’re not in control of when we will achieve our goals, we may set a date, but sometimes we hit our targets before time and vice versa. The point is that you have to keep walking.
Many of us fall wayside, and but have you ever wondered why?
Walking is tough, the human experience is not a walk down the park, it’s more of a trek through the glorious jungle that we call life. If you have ever walked in a forest, you know that it’s full of wild animals, and they can be frightening.
Don’t flinch, fear is the mother of doubt, and doubt is what will get you killed. If you’re scared, do the thing scared. The more you do something, the more you will know and applied knowledge kills fear.
Some of us get tired. We feel the weight of doubt, fear and all the negativity. Our knees get heavy, our palms get sweaty, and we fall. We tell ourselves that we’ll get up one day, but we never do.
Walking in silence beats lying in noise. Walking in silence is progress, lying in noise is nothing. Don’t tell yourself a shitty story, get up and keep walking.
Some of you lose your legs. You tell yourself that the walk is not worth it, that this part of the jungle is just right. Sure it’s full of snakes and tigers, but meh. You have a tent, and a machete, you’ll be alright.
To you, I say, good luck.
Psst, bet you he’s not going last a night.
Some of us get overwhelmed, fuck this jungle. They say challenges bring the best out of people, and if this is your best, I’m concerned for you. Your best is shit.
So how do you keep walking?
It’s simple, don’t look back, look ahead and keep it moving, move by any means necessary.
P.S.A you won’t be walking all the time. Some days you will be sprinting, other days, you’ll be crawling on your knees. Keep it moving. There’s a scene in the Creed series, where Rocky Balboa tells Adonis Creed that he has to box round by round, punch by punch.
That’s what life is, step by step, brick by brick and you’ll get there.
The key to walking is to understand that your path is not in your control. You can choose a path, but you can’t control the path’s design. Some paths will be straightforward, some will be twisty. You can’t control your path, but, you can control how you walk.
How you walk matters. Walk with intent, keep your back straight, eyes looking forwards and walk baby! Don’t slouch.
Most successful people are stubborn, they don’t take no for an answer and they always ask for what they want. Quitters will take no for an answer, they will be happy with the measly scraps that life throws at their half-arsed existence.
The older I’m getting, the more I realise that you cannot half-arse your way through life. Quitters are bitter, they are unfulfilled, and they blame other people, circumstances.
I’ve learned that taking full ownership about who you are and what you want is the best strategy to succeed. Taking ownership is fucking scary and whoever takes ownership is brave, and fortune always favours the brave.
If you want something, don’t be scared to ask for it. Responsibility is understanding that you want something and are comfortable with having it.
People who take full ownership of their identity are fucking awesome. We all have that friend who’s a dick, and he knows he’s a dick. I’ll tell you what he looks like, he has a beard and a short haircut with a fade, he probably drives a white BMW M3 and buy’s every new iPhone.
He’s fun to hang around, he’s a prick, but he’s your prick. Be like that prick, if you want the last slice of pizza, go for it. Don’t be ashamed.
To those of you who keep walking, who take ownership and who are willing to look ahead into a bright future, even though there are rain and mud, to you, I say, well done and stay excellent.
