Why we hardly see Anime series on Indian Television now?

As a growing 90’s kid when I became a teenager, Anime shows were my most favorite tv show. What can be more refreshing than a 2–3-hour Anime break after a full-day school schedule? Not only entertainment but Anime shows also provided us with knowledge of science, sympathy, friendship, and pure happiness. Personally, my favorite was Doraemon. But along with that, I used to watch Shin-chan, Ninja Hattori, etc.

But nowadays I hardly see Anime shows on television. Instead of that, what we get is almost the same monotonous Indian cartoons. So what did happen overnight?

Reasons:

1. Mature content:

Undoubtedly, Anime contents are more matured than Indian animations. In Indian animations, it seems like a “laddu- obsessed” character is mandatory. All the characters do certain things that are likable for only kids. Elders are unlikely to watch these animations.

On the other hand, Japanese Animes are far away from these stupid storylines. They have a good storyline, characters are realistic, and most importantly, these are fit for people of all ages.

2. Propaganda:

Media People don’t seem to care about the audience. The only thing they care about is money. If a show produces enough TRP(Television Rating Point) whether it is bullshit or not, it continues to be broadcasted for ages.

Now think of this, if a kid understands gravity, solar system, mirror world then for sure, they will not enjoy Chhota Bheem eating Ladoos.

3. Monopoly and Influence of Bollywood:

I think Indian media is very much insecure about its existence. That’s why they don’t allow others to enter their market. In fact, some selected people stay at the power and that’s why outsiders are hardly given a chance(also applicable in Bollywood). Think of this, if kids get mature from an early stage of life, surely they will not see mainstream media. Right??

4. Cultural Difference:

Obviously, Japnese culture and Indian cultures are not the same. That is why many politicians. Now certain politicians don’t like foreign cultures and they think Indians don’t need to learn anything from foreign cultures. That’s why they do anything to stop Anime shows to air on Indian televisions.

5. Poor Dubbing:

Some of the dubbing of Anime series is very good. But some are horrible. Problem is the dubbing quality is meant to be under a 10–12 year age group. Because of that, the shows lose the flavor of its contents(also happens in Hollywood dubbed films). Last but not least, talented people who can dub very well are hardly given any chance.

This is the time to bring back Anime shows on Indian televisions. With the rise of the Internet in India, I think young populations are very adaptive to learn new things. But as we all know, everything depends on higher authority in spite of our efforts, petition sign. So let’s hope that one day we will see again those Anime series on Indian televisions or the Indian animation shows will be of standard quality.

Have a good day :)
