Why Starting a Side Hustle is So Hard
All those influencers make it look so easy
I’m a big fan of the Side Hustle Nation, Side Hustle Pro, and Side Hustle School podcasts.
When I really think big, then I dabble with the My First Million podcast.
I’ve also got the Buy Button book, which is full of interesting side hustle options (check it out HERE).
And there lies the problem.
There’s been a hell of a lot of information, great quality information, without much action from my end.
Too much consuming and not enough producing.
To be fair, I have dabbled a lot with side hustles in the past.
Some were better than others.
But it’s been a while since I’ve committed to one path — structured something that can scale and isn’t just about earning pennies on the dollar.
Focus and intentionality have been missing.
Sure, Medium is part of the narrative. And I’m learning a lot in the process. It just needs to be part of a much bigger picture.
And that’s particularly the case if we do find ourselves flailing around in a full-blooded recession. Multiple streams of income will be what it’s about. You can’t just rely on the system and circumstances to magically work in your favor. At least that’s how I see it.
But it won’t be just me.
When the going gets tough, the tough will get going.
If things really do get challenging out there, I have no doubt many of you will roll up your sleeves and get things done.
As the saying goes:
Nothing focuses the mind like the sight of the gallows.
At the end of the day, it’s better to dictate circumstances, rather than have circumstances dictate to you. So I’m going to keep plugging away in my side hustle pursuit. With a bit more focus. Let’s see how that plays out.
