Why Some Religious Republicans Are Voting For Joe Biden
And not Donald Trump
Religious Republicans support Joe Biden as well
Many self-proclaimed righteous people support Donald Trump even though his values, principles, and lifestyle are not in line with the way they claim to live and believe. There are also a large number of religious people who cannot bring themselves to vote for Trump although they are lifelong Republicans. They will vote for Joe Biden.
A long post came up on Facebook from a friend. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She said that a friend of hers contacted her and asked about voting for Joe Biden. She said that there was no way she could vote for Donald Trump because he exemplified everything that was opposite of her values and views. She is a Republican and wanted to know reasons why other members of her church were voting for Biden. The friend asked for people to share their reasons.
We have all heard some stories about Biden’s care and concern for other people. There are people who have shared their personal experiences with Biden in response to this Facebook post.
These comments were shared publicly on Facebook but not on the news. There were many good comments. Only a few will be shared here. It would take too much space to share them all even though they were meaningful.
One person wrote: “Joe Biden gave my grandfather his first job in Washington back in the 70s. They remained close until my grandfather died in 2008. In the throes of that crazy campaiign, he visited my grandpa as he lay dying, then regularly called my grandma just to check in on her. She’s almost 90 now and has nothing of note to offer him. He still calls her just to check in. At an event a couple years ago, Joe walked into a room full of powerful potential donors and made a beeline for my sister, who was ill and horribly disfigured from cancer in her face. He left all the tony, self-important guests while he talked to her with such genuine compassion and concern, and didn’t move on until he knew she knew he cared deeply about her well being. He’s prayed with my family, and I’ve felt the power of his faith. I could go on. I don’t know how he’s made it for so long and to such powerful positions in Washington while still being so kind and sincere. He’s just a genuinely good person.”
Another of her religious friends wrote: “Joe Biden has experience. When you are hiring someone for a job , you choose the person with experience. Trying to pull someone in off the street has been a disaster. Joe Biden knows how the government runs — not just the mechanics, but the rules of civility and norms that have long governed intereactions between lawmakers, the public, and the press. Joe Biden reads (this should go without saying). He listens to other people and seeks consensus.”
A response from a person who saw the Facebook post came regarding her experience with Trump: “I worked for Trump at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City for a few months back in the early 90’s, and he was so much more concerned with how the place looked, how low cut the cocktail waitresses dresses were, how clean the carpets were, (the place was a gaudy [expletive] hole) and no one seemed at all concerned with the tens of thousands of dollars that were being stolen daily from the place. I can attest to the fact that he was a terrible businessman and an awful person firsthand. We know of people he hired to do work and then didn’t pay them. We know people that he put out of business until they couldn’t keep their doors open anymore. Corrupt, lying, cheating, greedy, self-centered. I had to leave after only a few months because it was a terrible place because of him. I worked at Caesar’s for nearly 23 years and it was so much better run than the Taj. These are reasons I’m voting for Biden. To me, it’s all about decency this time around.”
Personally, I have met Joe Biden on several occasions when he supported events with which I was involved. From all I have seen and heard about him, he is genuinely a nice person besides having a wealth of experience. I also know Kamala Harris and am working on the Biden/Harris Campaign.
The choice should be very clear. It is important to vote for decency and honor.
