Why Russell Wilson Won’t Be Traded
Coming from a die-hard Seahawks fan
There is no way that I see Russell Wilson leaving the Seattle Seahawks.
He has brought way too much to the city and the sport to be traded somewhere else. My opinion on the entire situation is that GM John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll will give the top-5 quarterback what he wants.
Protection. Russ has had a mediocre offensive line nearly every year and is one of the most sacked quarterbacks since he joined the league.
There will need to be some tough decisions made throughout the Seahawks organization. This is Russell’s team and Pete Carroll is going to need to realize that.
If we traded Russ away to a different team, the identity of the Seattle Seahawks would be changed forever and no other quarterback could come close to filling his shoes.
He’s a tremendous leader. This is his first time speaking up about what he wants and everyone's overreacting to it. The only people who don’t seem to be overreacting are the Seattle Seahawks. They’re answering calls and willing to trade him, but I just don’t see it happening.
Hawks' fans would be in denial if we lost Russell Wilson. He’s been a Seahawks for nearly ten years and it would be absolutely crushing to see him not retire a Seahawk.
The NFL is a business. Quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson watched Tom Brady single-handedly join a team and win in the first year. Athletes call this the LeBron James effect because he basically had a lot of say on who he has as teammates and everything he wants.
It’s a crazy story watching Brady join the Bucs and win the Super Bowl. It makes guys like Deshaun and Russ wonder why they aren’t sitting at the big table helping decide on what to do for the organization.
Teams are going to have to give up a lot to get Russ. It’s between the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints right now, and I don’t think either of them is going to give us an undeniably sweet deal.
Russ remains a Seahawk for the 2021 season. The Seahawks sign some high-quality offensive linemen, and they win the Super Bowl because of it.
