Give Audiences Reason To Follow And Subscribe.

The Trust Has Been Broken Through Greed.

It all comes down to broken trust (Spammers, Scammers And The Obvious), which is why people might be reluctant to follow and subscribe. Especially within digital marketing or making money online niches.

Sadly, the internet has become a cesspool of scams, false promises, lies, and deceit (in my opinion). And many people have fallen for that and even lost money, so please understand their scepticism.

We’ve all seen the posts, comments, and messages with floods of affiliate links. Quite annoying I would say, right? That just trumpets “I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing!”.

But this also led to “broken trust”, as people had become a lot more cautious, and rightly so. Luckily, there are many ways to separate yourself from the “spammer” society.

The “trick” is to change your audience’s perception of you. Change the “first impression”, to the “first impressive”. There are professional ways to promote affiliate products, and building a reputation is step one.

Due to all this spamming, scamming, and false promises, people are reluctant to trust. Therefore, your online presence must prove that you are who you say you are and get your face recognized.

Be the one to restore people’s faith in online marketers, because many people have a totally wrong perception. Thanks to all “this” (spamming, scamming, and lies), sadly there is a lot of mistrust.

Restore the trust, by offering solutions to problems that work without selling anything. Your job is to restore trust, build recognition, and give people a reason to follow you. Show them you are different; show them you have honour (don’t tell them).

Understanding The Purpose Of A Professional Profile.

The purpose of a professional profile is to create curiosity, and in that way get readers to your work, articles, posts, or even viewers to your videos. It also separates you from the “spammer” society.

There are several “marketing strategies” where people create multiple “fake” accounts and then send multiple messages, etc. Please don’t be fake, there’s too much of that going around.

I’ve picked you, especially for this free gift, check my profile”, this sound familiar, right? Then a few minutes later, the exact same message or comment. I’ve had a few with the same profile pic, OMG! Don’t these people get tired of creating all these fake profiles?

Be worthy of recognition, be different. Get people to your professional profiles, so they know exactly who you are and the solutions you can offer. Not the products and promises you can “sell”.

Your professional online profiles primarily must focus on recognition and building trust. Through valuable content, accessible in your profile feed. Articles, videos, stuff you shared, etc. Provide content worthy of your visitor’s time.

Having professional profiles is how you start making money online with affiliate marketing and free traffic. It forms a network of quality content, leading to results, getting recognized, and building trust.

Your Professional Profile On Any Platform.

Personally, I prefer using the exact same profile (or logo) picture, along with the same profile cover image. That way it makes it easier to recognize me from other platforms.

I prefer showing my face, like a passport type or full frontal image. I find that people are more likely to interact with a recognizable face than a favourite sports car for instance.

Platforms like Medium (Obviously), Quora, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn are among my personal favourites. Leverage these in the right way, because you have around 30 Billion visitors per month combined.

Depending on the platform there are a few major areas that must never be ignored. And it must always be completed as professionally as possible. These will include.

Profile Picture.

Cover Image.

Description Or About Page.

Lists And References.

Recommendations.

Just a few major areas you need to complete. Because you must introduce yourself to your audience properly and professionally. Be a problem solver, not a salesman, and be recognizable.

Your online profile must be attractive, and immediately inform your visitor what kind of content can be expected. But this is also something that forms part of user experience, and the opportunity to create curiosity.

You will also notice that I have no links or contact details in the Medium profile summary section above. Because I am not personally comfortable with that. Website links and contact details are instead shared on my “About” page.

As you can see in the illustration, with Medium I included the date I joined. To me, this is pretty important. That way you determine how active a certain profile is.

For instance, a profile that joined in 2002 with 100 content views, might not really be that active any longer. You want to build a follower and subscriber count with professionally active profiles, but so do other professionals.

Therefore, your professional online profiles are of paramount importance. Or I doubt people would have much reason to follow or subscribe. You need to be active to be recognized!

Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D” and edited in Canva. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

As illustrated above, you can see that Quora includes a lot of info about you in your profile. Those are also the areas you focus on with a strategy I used to push Quora views to just over 3 million content views per month! But a topic already covered in another story.

It’s simple. If you want to get recognized, then you must make yourself recognizable. This is why it is also important to link your professional profiles. The “about” or “Description” part of any profile is where you introduce yourself. And provide your contact details.

Linking between professional profiles is done in so many ways, I will name a few shortly, ten, in fact. This entire strategy is impossible to cover in a single article, so you might want to do some research on your own.

Linking Facebook Pages And Groups.

Linking From Quora Spaces To Medium.

Redirecting Facebook Page Call To Action.

Linking From About Sections To Other Profiles.

Profile Links In YouTube Video Descriptions.

Linking Medium Publications To Direct Email.

Social Sharing Of Content And Posts.

Linking To Medium Posts From Quora.

Linking To LinkedIn Articles From Quora.

Redirect To Medium From LinkedIn Articles.

But all my Medium stories and LinkedIn articles are also shared on Twitter, maintaining consistency there. These however are all part of the things I mentioned you need to do a bit of research on.

As illustrated below, my Twitter profile redirects to my Medium profile. Twitter has 9.6 Billion average monthly visits. See, in my opinion. We are all hunting for traffic.

Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D” and edited in Canva. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

When in fact the floods of traffic are already available. We need to stop “looking for traffic” and figure out ways to “step in front of it!”. Professional profiles are exactly how to do just that.

These days, if you want “free traffic” then you have to become an online presence, a recognizable one. And that is the hard work part because creating professional profiles takes time and a lot of work.

Because there are 2 steps to optimizing professional online profiles. Creating the profile, and then getting the profile “out there” through high-quality content and posts, along with constant engagement.

Profile And Content Is The Winning Combination.

With high-quality content and a professional profile, you will be much more likely to gain a lot more followers and subscribers where applicable.

As mentioned earlier, your purpose is to build large active and responsive audiences within your niche. In this case, done with professional online profiles and the content they offer.

But with building audiences, don’t just blindly follow and subscribe back. Be careful and do the profile research! Pay attention to their content, sections, or even achievements where applicable.

A combination of high-quality content mixed in with connected professional online profiles just flat-out works. It does however take a lot of time, depending on your rate of activity and consistency.

You might find that “how-to”, and “step-by-step” guides work rather well when it comes to content. Especially in digital marketing and making money online niches.

Give Audiences a Reason To Follow And Subscribe.

This is where the “free stuff” comes into play. You may or may not have read some of my other Medium stories on free stuff. So I will just include that free stuff is on the “most wanted” search list on the internet.

Through experience, I have learned that people are searching the internet for one of four things, or all four combined. The first step however is to establish a common need. Then provide.

Answers To Questions.

Solutions To Problems.

Guides To Complete Tasks.

Free Stuff.

Offer the kind of answers, solutions, and guides that people are looking for so you can solve a problem. You build recognition and gain trust the fastest when you are a problem solver.

Give people a reason to follow or subscribe to you by offering something in return. You are asking for their time, what are you offering in return? Now I have come up with an idea to share a free giveaway with my Medium stories.

Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D” and edited in Canva. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

By including a short quote in the footer of my Medium stories. Stating that there are free giveaways available to people who subscribe to me on Medium. But is this allowed, you might ask?

Well, that’s what I thought, and I decided to contact Medium support on this idea. Medium support responded as can be seen illustrated below. You can include that.

But you must make it clear that Medium has no affiliation nor support of the project. Offering such incentives is a great way to build a subscriber list interested in your content.

Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D” and edited in Canva. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

As you can clearly see how important your online profiles are, you might want to give them some attention. I see a lot of incomplete and faceless profiles on various platforms.

And although I value them as followers and subscribers very much, I cannot “follow back” because the profile lacks information. I have no idea who I am dealing with.
