Did you know dairy has been linked to diabetes, obesity, and even heart disease?

It’s true, but what is the myth behind the diary industry?

Myth: Your toddler can be healthy with or without drinking dairy.

This is said by so many old-fashioned parents and it can’t be further from the truth. Children’s health is heavily threatened when taking in cows milk. It is filled with:

  • Growth-effecting hormones
  • Sugar
  • Pus
  • plus more health-risking factors

Yes, pus and it’s accepted by the FDA!

1. Hormones in Milk are not Healthy

This growth hormone that is injected into cows is called recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) or recombinant bovine somatotrophin (rbST) and it is all man-made. It is used to increase milk production.

The other hormone that is found in cows milk but is natural is estrogen but don’t think “well, that’s not so bad” because in cows milk it is elevated amounts of this hormone which can lead to cancers due to the effect it has in blood levels of the hormone in humans.

2. More Sugar in Milk, More Sugar in the Blood

What else is gross is how much sugar is added to milk to make it taste better.

This leads to:

  • Weight gain
  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • and so much more

Some milks do have natural sugar but it is because it is lactose, which most of the U.S. population is allergic to.

Lactose leads to diabetes because it increases the sugar level. It’s broken down by the body and turns into glucose. So really milk already has sugar in it and affects everyone differently. With the nutrition label on the front of the milk carton or jug, it has a percentage of how much sugar is estimated along with the added sugar. But it may harm someone who has pre-existing diabetes more than someone who doesn’t.

There is of course the option now to buy lactose-free milk but you will still be at risk with added sugars, heart disease, pus, weight gain, and so on and so forth.

3. Pus is a Problem for Me and Painful for Cows

Mastitis in cows is widely-known. It’s because it’s the most economically significant disease in the dairy industry.

This awful disease in cows is caused by the teats being injured and vigorous sucking on the cows teats by the milking machines and is easily spread by the milker’s hands and the machines to other cows.

Some resources will say that pus is not a symptom from mastitis but it is along with:

  • Dehydration
  • Swelling and hardness of the udders
  • Watery looking milk
  • Flakiness and clots in the milk

Companies “disinfect” the cows teats by using antiseptics but unfortunately this actually makes existing infections worsen because of the source of iodine. The source of iodine is found to boost the level of pus in cows milk if the cow has staph-infected udders. Yes, staph. It’s actually what is to be known to be the cause of mastitis.

Nearly 27,000 milk samples from 28 herds in the early 1980’s were collected and culture results showed that 10% of cows were infected with staph. 60% of infection was found in the cows producing milk. Gross.

I was glad to find all this out and share with everyone. Especially that dairy is so highly-tolerated in children’s foods and drinks. Knowing this really changes my perspective on things and I know it will for other parents too.
