Why Medium.com is perfect for writers with ADHD
I’m one of them.

My name is Kim and I have ADHD.
If I were sitting in a circle with y’all to discuss when it started, it would probably resemble a 12-step meeting.
All I know is that my whole life has been an epic fail when it comes to anything that requires organization, namely raising a family, running a household, business and relationships.
But ever since I started writing here on Medium in September of this year, I feel like it is the One Place where I can call home.
Lately, an idea for an article comes to mind and I put the title and some thoughts on a new draft. When the rest of the inspiration comes, which is usually in the morning hours, I sit myself down and write the rest.
In full disclosure, sometimes it will take several mini-bursts of inspiration to get a piece written.
You see, my ideas don’t come flowing in like many of yours probably do in one sitting. Mine trickle in…
Not to mention the editing process that is almost OCD-like until I feel like it’s right. Then many of these may follow until what I felt was right before becomes even better.
There are times when I will set up several drafts for future pieces that way.
It helps me not feel so overwhelmed and allows me to get the articles out as I can.
And when I push Publish, it feels like I’ve accomplished such a huge feat!
Anyway, I feel like Medium is truly my happy place where my best self is displayed.
My readers don’t know that my brain looks like the mother of all chaos; all they see is the finished product.
Thank you to whoever has provided this awesome space for us Medium writers to do what we do and find a like-minded community. It’s a beautiful thing.
PS: I’m a new writer on Medium. You can support me in my journey if you follow or clap. That makes me create more stories. It costs you nothing, but it shows me and the algorithm that my stories are worth reading.
I am K.D. Thorne, a memoirist who calls a spade a spade and spares nothing when it comes to telling stories. I live in Mexico with my awesome son Dylan.
