Why Many Freelance Writers are Hand to Mouth
Being in the limelight is not as easy as pie. Its an act, many writers, are not familiar with.

A survey was conducted to know about the life of the writers. According to that survey, many of the freelance writers are earning 10–15 dollars per hour. Medium writers have managed to make 15–45 dollars per hour. Even web designers are earning more than writers with little knowledge of content management.
What is the reason behind all this trauma? Writers work hard but do not earn as much as they deserve. I am sadly saying that writers are partly to criticize. The reason is writers label themselves as freelance writers.
In the market, nobody wants to hire a freelance writer. Recruiters are looking for technical writing, content management, and copywriters. Companies are looking for freelance writers, but they do not use that language because they consider freelance writers as beginners or a half writer. By categorizing themselves as freelance writers, authors are destroying their potential.
Only 8–12 percent of freelance writers are earning a handsome amount of money. These writers are earning more than 75 dollars per day. But being a part-time writer makes their annual income average.
How long writers wait for the payment? How often do writers not even get paid? Seriously.
Yes, this is not a fun topic. But if that did not happen to you in your whole career as a freelance writer, you are lucky.
Email listing
Another survey had shown that freelance writers who are running their websites are not getting any business from them. 70% of the freelance writers have sites, and less than 20% are getting business. Only 30% of website owners had created an email list. The fact is only half of them are in contact with their followers and send an email once a month.
Don’t have a social media audience
The social media audience also varies from top earner to low earner. Mostly low earners have less than 500 followers on social media while the top earners have an average audience between 6000–12000.
High earners are also directly working with the companies, and low earners do not have the reach to such potential clients.
Some suggestions for the freelance writers
If you are a new content writer or a blogger, then probably you are not going to get many views on your story. The internet is vast, and google is not going to crawl your website on your first blog post.
Do not be sad; stay motivated. Stick with your writing; find the right audience. Pinterest can help you in this regard.
Explore others
I am a writer, and I often visit other people’s websites. I treat those websites as a client to know the pros and cons. This thing helps me to improve my writing skills.
Crowd of clients
Once you will establish your creative content on a website or a fan client if working as a contract writer. Other customers will automatically be drawn towards you. Do not get depressed by the comments or responses of one client.
It’s a business, and when a business does not get back to you, do not take it to heart.
Final thoughts
One of the best advice I can give you is a marketing strategy.
Start writing guest posts.
Build a twitter and LinkedIn fan base.
Sometimes commenting on other’s blogs also helps, and at the end, call yourself ‘A Writer.’
