My journey started off with limited (ZERO) PC skills, let alone online marketing. When I say limited knowledge, I mean nothing, zip, nada!
My PC literacy extended to email sending and electrical drawings, that was it because I am also an electrician.
I have never heard of SEO, affiliate marketing, content marketing strategies, or presentation secrets and soon found myself drowning in an ocean of information overload.
Sometimes having to ask a question, and having people look at you as if you are challenged in some way requires a little thick skin, trust me.
Little did they know at the time that I was a technologically-challenged individual, from the dinosaur age in comparison.
Understanding the logic of making money online is the key! Being a technological dinosaur (at the time), was rather challenging. But it also made the journey so much more interesting!
Learning is the only option, but I did always love writing which came in rather handy. These days I write because I love to, fascinated to the point of obsession with content marketing strategies.
This journey however started back in 2011/2012 somewhere, during which time I did generate sales, but nothing worth mentioning.
My first commission cheque from Clickbank was in the amount of $123.79. I will never forget that your first sale, no matter how minute, is a feeling you can only know if you’ve been there!
Above is just an idea of how my Clickbank account looked for a very long time, working nearly 24/7!
But it was not the amount that was the good news, no, the fact that something I do is working, then I had to figure out which strategy led to the sales.
A couple of sales even on Warrior Plus, but as mentioned before. Hardly worth mentioning, but this is where I came from. One should never forget your own struggle.
To this day, that cheque from Clickbank in the amount of $123.79 is framed and hanging on my office wall as a reminder of where I came from.
This all happened around 2014, after 2 to 3 years online.
Running after all the shiny objects, and like every beginner, overlook what’s right in front of you.
Hastily and randomly I just worked through as much information as I could.
Setting up Blogs, Pages, Groups, Spaces, and YouTube Channels and jumping through a lot of hoops, not realizing that I was gathering knowledge.
But more importantly, learning about different content marketing strategies. Building up a shareable arsenal of information.
Sales varied from little to nothing at all.
For most of the time, sales remained to be little to nothing at all, despite spending 16–19 hours in front of my PC most days!
Year after year, I was making peanuts in comparison with the applied effort. But I was still just blindly trying to promote affiliate links everywhere.
No product knowledge, no useful content, poor presentation design. It was a mess at some point.
So, I kept failing for a few more years, just to be sure. Then a few more, because if someone else can do it then so can I, right?
This continued for a really long time, as I made sense of the logic behind the method, learning and gathering as much knowledge as I could.
The reason for failure hit me between the eyes!
All this time, amid all the teachings and training I failed to identify the most powerful tool for profitable affiliate marketing.
All this time I was randomly creating hundreds of websites, blogs, social networking profiles, groups, pages, spaces, and much more.
What I was doing wrong, was not using this through implementing a profitable content marketing strategy. Basically, awesome sites, just sitting there!
But I have now built up an arsenal of knowledge, logic, and a rather giant online toolbox. But mostly failed at just about everything for a really long time!
Good thing I’m so stubborn because I considered cutting my losses and moving on many times!
I knew I had to get into content marketing strategies
So, the journey continued, only this time from experience. The logic of content marketing strategies suddenly just computed.
One fact that dawned on me is that ALL SUPER SUCCESSFUL MARKETERS HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON! THEY ALL DEVELOPED THEIR OWN PROFITABLE CONTENT MARKETING STRATEGIES AND TURNED THAT INTO DIGITAL PRODUCTS!
But in order to do that you must first understand the crucial part that failure plays. Gathering knowledge!
Because once you have applied your knowledge and decided on a content marketing strategy you must put it to the test.
Spending another few months researching I came up with profitable content marketing strategies and everything changed!
Sales started rising comfortably to the extent that I could cover my monthly online budget and have a bit on the side.
Something I was trying to do for years, and a few simple content marketing strategies changed all that!
From little to almost no content views, through content marketing strategies I started hitting millions of views. That is on Quora alone.
Facebook group members started increasing, Facebook page likes comments, and shares. All because of an effective content marketing strategy!

Bummer, right? But that is what you’re often not told. Yes, super-successful marketers make thousands of dollars per day.
But it is the bottom of the iceberg you don’t know about. The years of failure, desperation, anger, disappointment, and sometimes even depression!
The times of failure they had to endure in order to be able to perfect the content marketing strategy that resulted in impressive sales over time! Then turn that into a digital product on Clickbank and Warrior Plus.
So, you see, although it took me only 6 months to generate sustainable commissions.
The preparation and learning to do that in 4 months took way much longer, painfully, and frustratingly longer!
It is the bottom of the iceberg you don’t see, the part you are often not told about affiliate marketing. The tiny “successful” piece sticking out is just more comfortable to talk about.
Once you figured out, implemented, and got positive results from a content marketing strategy. You have found your direction. Because it is also important to find what works for you.
We cannot all be YouTube or TikTok superstars. Because we all have different talents and different levels of knowledge and experience.
Then stick with that content marketing strategy and keep going. Before you know it, you will be creating a sustainable passive income online!
One Content Marketing Strategy is Not Enough!
Never put all your proverbial “eggs in one basket” once you mastered one content marketing strategy.
Get going on the next while the completed strategy runs on autopilot. Always have a backup strategy in place just in case.
Algorithms can change, rules can change, and these things can have an effect on a certain content marketing strategy!
Always have a few backup strategies in place, so you have time to do the maintenance and changes on those needing it.
Without having to suffer a devastating blow in your sales when one marketing strategy traffic slows down.
If that has to happen with one content marketing strategy in place, you’re basically back to where you started.
The past 6 months have been rather exciting, finally, I can look back and say, “I am SO glad I didn’t give up!”
