Why It Is So Difficult To Find Out What Works On Medium

There are many people writing stories on Medium about the great success they have found on the platform. Some have written about earning hundreds of dollars within a couple of months or even thousands of dollars in a short time. They tell what worked for them and how you can also earn lots of money on Medium.

Obviously, some people have figured out something that works. They may be the lucky ones.

There are people who have had almost immediate success on Medium. Others have earned good incomes after many months or some years. There are still others who have been struggling for a year or more with making only a few dollars or cents per story.

What works for one might not work for someone else.

It seems that we all need some good luck or blessings to become successful on Medium. You can write consistently every single day. You may have some people telling you that your writing is good and that they enjoy your stories. You may still not be having much success.

Perhaps you have made it to the $100 a month mark, but sometimes you don’t get there. You may have believed that you would be earning thousands of dollars after six months or a year. You may still be far from that goal.

Do you get encouraged when you look at your stats or do you get discouraged? If they look good at first glance, they may not actually be earning you much money. If you have thousands of views, you need to check and see if they are coming from other Medium Partner Program members. If not, they will not earn you a cent.

The one good day stuck out above the rest. It was not repeated. The views went down and stayed down. That good day had over 16K views. There were about half that many reads. It looked like a viral story which would likely earn over $1,000. The stats cannot always be believed. They may not be as they appear.

It was one story which had garnered almost all those views for the day. That should have been a successful story, but it did not earn much money at all. It was less than $10 because the views were at least 98% external.

It was thought that perhaps the subject of Clarence Thomas would be popular with readers. Another story could have been successful, but it received a total of only 11 views, 5 reads, and earnings of $.27.

It is difficult for some people to find what works on Medium to bring success. That is true because what works for one person may not work for another. It may be hard for people to think of the right topics, titles, or words to use. We may know that we need more views and reads, but it may not be working.

There is nothing to do but keep trying if you believe in the platform and enjoy writing. Since we have seen and read stories about people achieving great success, we realize that it can be done. Maybe it will happen for us.
