Why Isn’t Sorry Enough?

I worshipped at your altar, sitting on my knees, looking up at you with terror in my eyes, praying you’d give me absolution.

But forgiveness doesn’t run in your DNA. My weakened state is used against me and cements your power. Now I’m curled on the floor begging and weeping like my life depends on your mercy.

This is your moment — your time to shine.

The high and mighty vision of yourself is confirmed by my misdeeds.

And there’s nothing I can do but accept my fate.

My mistakes give you free rein to treat me however you see fit.
