Why Is Making Wire Jewelry One Hobby I Love?
And what are some of my wire jewelry creations?

A fun and relaxing activity, wire jewelry-making is the craft I’ve noticed myself engaging in the most lately. I’ve had some beads sitting around for a while. I relish the ability to make many different unique designs and play with bead designs and shapes to create unexpected effects. I make earrings the most often because they give me the most freedom to test out unusual looks and see how they turn out.

For example, I delighted in making these dice earrings from beads that I had sitting around just waiting to become a work of art. These ones are simple, but I think that’s why their appearance works. My boyfriend also said that he likes them because of the dice. I find dark colors stunning and sophisticated, and the red and black complement one another. I had fun making the spirals at the end because they give earrings a distinctive appearance. You can make the spirals with wire and in a multitude of sizes and shapes.
By toying with different possibilities for the beads I have, I also made these panda earrings. I try to mostly make jewelry by myself now rather than buy it because I can use beads with designs that I really enjoy such as animals.

I delighted in curling the wire with the help of my jewelry pliers as I created them. It’s a soothing activity. When I made these, I connected two separate pieces on each earring before attaching them to the finding on top that enables them to go in the ear. The top section contains the curled wire with the three beads that include the panda head. I then made a loop on each section so that they can connect to the bottom that has the three smaller beads and the bottom spirals. The spirals enable the beads to stay on and keep them from falling off.

These green ones were fast and easy to make. I created them while in a hurry, but I think they still achieve an elegant look. It’s so great how I can aim for the investment and difficulty level that I need at the time. I can choose projects that take up diverse amounts of time and demand varying levels of concentration.

A comparatively more involved project, I spent a few hours making this necklace. I curled wire around each one of these beads individually and connected each of those sections to the necklace one by one. The activity absorbed me enough that I lost track of how much time passed by as I made it. I love activities such as this that I can get lost in.
I enjoy making jewelry such as this for people and gave this one to my mom while she was over one day. Another great aspect of jewelry-making is that it makes it easy to think of gifts to give to people. Generally, people appreciate handmade items. Giving some of my creations to others makes me feel good, and it simultaneously helps to keep me from having too much of a surplus sitting around.

The item that these pieces of jewelry are resting on is a beadboard. It’s used so that beads will stay in place and keep them from sliding while you work on your projects. I’m planning on giving all of these ones to people that I know. After I texted her pictures of beads to let me know which ones she liked, I made the purple bracelet with the flowers for my friend. The others are ones I’m still deciding who they’ll be for, but I also give away handmade jewelry while I have people over, if they’d like any.
If you see the blue ones in the picture with the spiral at the bottom and the oval around the wire surrounding the beads on the board, that one gave me quite a bit of pleasure to make. I adapted it from techniques that I found online as I do for a large portion of the jewelry that I made, and I felt thrilled that the experiment panned out.

I’ve also learned that I love making caged beads like the ones on the earrings in the photo above. You make the cage for a bead and then stick the bead in it, spreading it over it. They’re so fun to make because you can make different-sized cages that cover varying amounts of the bead.

It’s also so fun to play with different colors of wire and find ones that match the beads. It was so exciting to make these earrings in two shades of blue. I made this set with some beads that my friend kindly gave me.

It also delighted me to make this necklace using colored wire to go with the black beads. This necklace was one of my longer projects where I attached each bead to it individually.

These earrings are a smaller project that also let me experiment with colored wire, and I like how they turned out.
I plan to also start on some more intricate and demanding projects that will challenge me and increase my skills. Making wire jewelry is a thrilling activity that lets me be creative, make gifts, and have unusual items unlike anyone else’s. It’s a delightful art form.
