Summary

The article discusses the paradox of why people easily believe in lies that fulfill human needs but demand proof for the existence of God, suggesting that God transcends religious constructs and is evident through the wonders of the universe and human achievements.

Abstract

The author, an INTP, reflects on the human tendency to accept lies that cater to our desires while questioning the nature of God. The article posits that all religions, being human inventions, inherently present a flawed view of God. It argues that God is indifferent to material and political concerns and that the true nature of God is not contingent on religious teachings. Instead, the author suggests that God, or the Great All, is an ever-present source connected to everything in the universe, and that human souls are part of a cycle of reincarnation aimed at spiritual growth through love and overcoming fear. The author concludes that the existence of a higher power is self-evident, citing the Latin legal principle "res ipsa loquitur" (the thing speaks for itself), and recommends an AI service, ZAI.chat, for further exploration of these concepts.

Opinions

  • The author believes that the lies people believe in are a result of fulfilling human needs, as exemplified by the success of President Chump (a play on words for Donald Trump).
  • Religions are seen as flawed because they are human constructs that attempt to define God according to human desires and control mechanisms.
  • God is not concerned with money, politics, war, or personal fates, and religions' portrayals of a God who grants

Why is it so Easy for People to Believe the Most Obvious Lies yet Require Proof of God?

Conversely, Why Does this Walking BS Detector not Believe 90% of Peoples’ Claims Yet Firmly Believe in Eternal Souls and God(s)?

It’s fascinating. It’s maddening. It’s fascinatingly maddening. As an INTP, I think about the inconsistencies referenced in the titles quite often. I was searching for the answer a few minutes ago by looking at the 16 personality types’ gullibility factors but quickly realized any answer I would take from there would be the result of confirmation bias and thus would be false.

I just read Ella Alderson’s piece The Idea of God has One Major Flaw, and was going to send her my previously 10.3.20 self-published version of this story as a dialogue opener, but then saw the opportunity to revise, repurpose and publish anew.

Every religion is flawed. Religions are designed by humans. Humans are flawed. Thus religious view of God are flawed.

The lies that people believe appeal to some human need and that is why “there is sucker born every minute,” and explains the “success” President Chump had.

Spiritual truths do not have this appeal.

Religions have been designed to be believed and thus construct God as a deliverer of human wants if we do as we are told, which God is not. So people either blindly believe in God because the lie of what God is is believable, or reject God because the God defined by religions cannot co-exist with the reality that most people do not get what they want, or are not actually happy, and a world full of seemingly senseless tragedy and really bad things happening to good people.

So my view, which I shall deliver as a truth but the fact is it would be hubris for me to proclaim that I can actually understand the Universe:

“God” does not care anything about money, politics, war, famine, or even who lives or dies, and to the extent God affects any such outcomes it is only to keep things from going too far off the improv-script. Nor do the Gods give a hoot about religions, as religions arise from the human-need to construct a controlling mechanism.

The gods exist despite whatever a religion teaches.

God does not exist because a religion teaches that she/he/they exist.

The Great All exists because Source is — everything is connected to God despite religions, which humans invented to separate and conquor and subjugate.

All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits [death] and their entrances [birth]; And one man in his time plays many parts

The fact is no one dies. We return to Heaven and the cycle of soul, to soul with body and back to soul repeats as many times as soul wants. The each successive cycle is designed to challenge us with harder and harder human experiences with the goal of learning how to meet these challenges while remaining true to spiritual principles such as patience, humility, compassion, empathy and above all else, Love.

As often said, which I found in Neal Donald Walsh’s Conversations with God, all emotions/feelings have their root in two base emotions — Love and fear. God is Love. Fear is an animal emotion needed for animals to survive in the wild, and when we heed Roosevelt and realize that we have nothing to fear but fear itself, then we can begin to truly live in right relation to God, and live in Love.

So, why does this walking BS detector believe in God?

Because I look around at the wonders of the universe and achievements by humans both small and large from which divine influence is inferable,

and as I like to say with a phrase I learned in law school and long ago repurposed — res ipsa loquitor. Evidential proof is not required when the thing speaks for itself.

There is no other explanation than the existence of a higher power, my understanding of which may be wrong, but the existence of which is undeniable.
