Why is ‘Be Positive’ the Worst Ever Quote?
Hopes and Being Positive makes you lethargic and nothing else.
Don’t think, just Do — Horace
Since childhood, we have been taught to be positive in all scenarios and always be hopeful. Well, I strongly feel both the habits just make us lethargic and fatigued.
Change your mindset
Stop sitting back and hoping for things to get better, hope and the wait kills us and it doesn’t do anything well. The sooner you accept the reality, the sooner your brain will adapt and move ahead.
# Most Common Use Case — Job Interviews
I see a lot of people just waiting after the interview results HOPING that they will clear the interview and will get the appointment letter, whereas the HRs are interviewing the candidates while keeping you on hold, eventually when you get a rejection, it feels horrible. The worst part is that waiting phase, which happens only because we hope.
Well, in this case, I always give my interview, think the worst that I am not going to clear the interview and that is how I do not sit back and hope for an appointment letter, but rather prepare for my next interview. It helps me to move forward in life, and prepare for the next challenge.
# Think Realistic and Not Positive
Often the opposite of positive thinking is realistic thinking and not negative thinking. Stick to reality, which will allow you to think less, and do more.
# Have a Soldiers Mentality
There is a reason the Soldiers are called absolute Mental Monsters, they are already prepared for the worst i.e. to die and that is how they remain sane and decisive even during their most lively moments.
One of the quotes which I strongly abide by and always helps me:
“The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. The sooner you accept that the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.” — Captain Ronald Speirs
Conclusion
This mentality works the best for me. As soon as an event in my life is over, I do not hope for the results or good consequences, but rather switch back to reality and start working for the next event of my life.
Certainly, there are some people who would like to keep going with the hopes as it encourages them, but that never worked out for me personally.
All the best!
Think Realistic, Positive things will happen eventually.
