Why I’m Excited About Turning 60
I Still Can’t Believe I’m 60 Years Old

Ah. Life has been good and there’s much more life to live. In this picture, if you look over my left shoulder, you’ll see some of the places I have visited.
There’s nothing like travel.
But if you look closely, you’ll see a genuine smile. So, what’s this old dude got to smile about? Let me count the ways.
First and foremost, I have my health. Yeah, I could stand to shed a few pounds. I’m working on that. I just told my wife that I am going to do 100 thrusters with my 20-pound medicine ball. I intend to do them in succession. Each time I go out, I will add one more set to the previous set. This will all be documented on paper and later, once I am really into it, on video. It’s an insane number. After it’s all said and done, I will have completed 5,050 thrusters. Of course, this will take the better part of a year. Check back with me on my 61st birthday!
I have my family. My immediate family and I all reside together. Then, my oldest daughter who is in the United States Air Force and my youngest daughter, who is the mother of my two granddaughters, will all be gathered for my birthday celebration.
My siblings, and nieces and nephews, we all connect every other month via teleconference. Thanks, COVID. You ushered in a new urgency of keeping family communications strong.
Actually, it was my mother’s passing that prompted me to start the family chat. We haven’t missed a session yet and we are planning our first gathering for 2023. Location, St. Louis, MO.
Wisdom has afforded me to live comfortably. More importantly, it has given me the tools to share with my family so they can break off a few nuggets of financial wisdom and create generational wealth for their family.
So far, that’s health, family and wisdom. What else am I thankful for? Well, cameras. With cameras, I can take wonderful pictures like these:

I encourage you to record the wonderful moments of your life as well. One day, all you may have left are the memories.
So many times, my birthday falls on Mother’s Day. What an incredible Mother’s Day present I was for my mom! I know she is looking down and thankful that I made it another year. Some of y’all may be saying, put those cigars down. But it’s my wife’s fault. She bought them. Do you think she is going after the insurance money? lol
All I’ll say is I’m a through and through Taurus. Thank God for May.
