Why I write!

Note- This is a 5-year-old article.
Finally, I have got some time. My both lab-practical exams and all internals were over. Semester 3 of my UG is finally coming to an end. The big challenge of University exams is just days ahead. Before I move onto the topic, let me explain about my past few weeks.
It has been a while since I wrote something great, the last blog post was written in connection with the .log, a blogging competition conducted in connection with the IEEE Day Fest. I got the first prize in that which was much expected. I chose to write on the Cloud, Latest technology, and AADHAR.
The academic life of semester 3 is pretty challenging, perhaps because we were introduced to totally something new. The first year was a smooth ride, a student having a strong class 12 basics can have an easy cakewalk. Something big also happened The Excel 2018. The much-awaited annual tech-fest of the year. The fest was a success and we could see a big improvement in the quality of programmes and events conducted. I was happy to be a part of it on all the three days.
Another significant part was on winning the Best Blogger-Vlogger prize in the Excel- Youth Ki Awaz presents SpotOn. The Best Vlogger and The best Blogger are my friends too, Sagar Suresh and Akshay Balakrishnan. The victory was much unexpected though!. I thank Amrin Kareem for being a good coordinator throughout and cooperating with the YKA team for the best results and smooth conduct of the programme. With this prize, I am qualified to participate in the YKA campus watch, which will be a great privilege.
Coming back to the topic, I still remember my old school days, we had English as a core subject. We had to learn a lot of comprehension, creative writing, grammar etc. I was so poor in that area, and I used to get scolding the day when I got English marks. My parents and teachers used to tell me that I have no creativity in writing, or more what you commonly refer to as Flair in writing. My parents even decided to put me to tuition for English!. The humourous part comes when my classmates why are you going for an English tuition? Why not Maths or Social Science?
I completed 4 years in the tuition and then stopped it after the tuition teacher herself was feeling much satisfied with my performance. Even then there was no much improvement in my marks or the style. Language still continued to be my weak area of academics.
In class 12, we were trained to manage time while writing English paper. In a way, the teacher used to give us a lot of writing practice which made me feel confident and hopefully I wished to do better. Thus finally in my board exam, for the first time, I crossed my usual threshold of 75, and even 80, the humungous 90 to finally get a 94, which was perhaps not all expected (I hoped for 90–91 though).
Parallel I used to browse for answers on Quora regarding Class 12 tips and tricks. Unknowingly, I subscribed myself to Quora digests and I started receiving political articles, which made me feel excited that quora have a lot of sides, not just the one everyone usually checks for. So I decided to join it and started writing answers related to both politics and CBSE. Any election season it is a big celebration quora with overwhelming politics in your feed, while in February-March-April will be the season of CBSE, class 10&12, JEE etc. After that in May comes funny questions whether I will get IIT with a rank of 1 lakh, or why do you hate reservations in India, or event Is VIT a good place to learn? etc. The answers which gave a fair share of views and upvotes are given here below. I finally became the most writer in India, Pakistan, CBSE, Warfare, and Indo Pak relations. Each person will have that tag for a month to hold.
Now I have over 3000+ saved drafts, 700+ followers and over 850K+ views, which I would like to make it 1m in the coming months.
Quora is not a utopia. If you say you are IITian or have a cute dp, you will get a good amount of followers and upvotes(And Ofcourse I don't have both). If you support party x or party y in your answer, you can get your answer downvoted and collapsed by the haters. Then you have a set of useless questions “When will Pakistan return Lahore to India?, When will India give Kashmir to Pakistan?, Is Pakistan a good country? What makes Hindus sad?, What is like to be a good/bad Muslim? Why is IIT not the best place to study? etc”. These are all troll questions intended to spread hatred. There is a good number of writers who even are there to spread political propaganda. Despite all this, I would suggest you start a Quora account and start to read and write. You will be able to interact with a lot of people across the world and make this earth a better place. It is the place to share Knowledge and not Propaganda. You can select your area of interest while you sign up to get your appropriate feed.

With my profile on Quora, I was selected for the Excel 2017 and 2018 for written marketing and content writing. I was able to learn a lot from this experience. I went beyond excel to join content teams of Various IEEE events, and also a content team member of MECMUN 2018. (I am still a noob in this field). The biggest perk of joining the Content team is, you are a default writer of Paperkin(https://medium.com/paperkin), The Blog of MECians. I was introduced to Medium by this way and was able to publish one article under Paperkin and 10 other articles on my own. The most successful blog post was on My trip to Thailand and Singapore (A review) and my First year of college.
To be a great writer is not everyone’s cup of tea, but everyone can write. See, for example, in my case from a poor performer in English paper, to a blogger, winning small prizes(Winning is not a big deal if you have the interest). The journey is never easy, but change will certainly come if you are willing to change yourself. I thank Joel V Zachariah and Nikita Mallya for trying their part to bring in the best out of me.
My skill in writing didn’t come out, one fine day. It was somewhere just hidden in me, and I never knew it before I tried to bring it out. Your talent is hidden in you, you just have to bring it out and perform well. Whether it is singing, dancing, sports, speaking, academics, managing, teaching, leading people etc. Each time you see a person with a talent pat him/her on the back because this pat can change his/life and encourage them more. Just like that, every pat on my back or bruise of my fall has encouraged me to get up and improve and feel more confident.
I have still not said that I am a great writer because I am not one. But I strive to improve each time I write something new. It doesn't matter who will read tour article or sometimes, no one will even scroll it (In the Begining of my Quora life, no one used to read my answers, I took a big effort to get a wide audience.) but it gives you the satisfaction that you wrote one and that is more than enough. Each time you write makes your heart a bit lighter, and your problems vanish.
I would like to conclude that, find your hidden talent and move ahead. It's not too late to know and nurture your passion. I hope the next semester to go smoother than this one. So that I will have a lot more to share with you all.
