Why I Schedule My Posts For 6 AM
Anyone who remotely has an interest in building a following on any social platform knows that there are certain times when you can post your content for maximum exposure, reach, and engagement. This is because, at that time, there are the most users on that platform than at any other point in time throughout the day.
Although this time varies from person to person in terms of what time THEIR audience is most active, especially considering any time zone disparities, the principle remains true. Rapidly growing creators should seek to do their own research on when is the best time to post for their respective audiences.
Medium’s Best Time to Post
However, for those just starting out on Medium, if you don’t have the necessary information yet, then a good general time to post that I have been utilizing is just after 6 AM EST. This may seem confusing at first, but there is strong reasoning to support this claim. Based on research and information found online, 6 AM to 3 PM EST is the general prime time to post on Medium as that is when most users are active.
Extra Benefits
Sticking to a schedule, and posting at the same time, every time you post helps grow your audience as loyal followers instead of visitors. Also, the earlier you post in the day, the greater the chance of being included in a non-subscriber’s daily digest emails.
Going The Extra Mile
If you want to take it one step further, you could also determine which day of the week is best to post. Again, if you have a large or rapidly growing following, it would be much more beneficial to you to research your own data and determine what best works for you. However, if you are new, and still growing your following, it may be best to post on Medium earlier in the week, either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
Posting during one of these times may be beneficial to you because it gives your story more time during the week to accumulate more views, traffic, and engagement. The Medium algorithm, and any publications that you may be a part of, will promote your content first positioning you as somewhat of a can’t-miss writer. As the week goes on and more stories are published, your earlier story will already have gained momentum that could possibly still allow it to receive better engagement than newer posts.
In addition, posting earlier during the week is more beneficial as Medium reports a lower amount of traffic and active users towards the end of the week and the weekend itself.

Getting your content ahead of others so that you can maximize your exposure and engagement instead of getting lost in the shuffle, is of the utmost importance if you want to succeed and become a top writer for Medium. Although it may seem futile, posting your content at the right time for the audience, could be the difference between becoming a top writer, or writing articles that will slip through the cracks of a bombardment of constant and new content.
