Abstract

In her article, Preeti Singh conveys her admiration for writers who pour their hearts into their writing, regardless of their experience level. She likens the act of clapping for writers on Medium to the applause given to a team of chefs and a flute player she encountered during her stay at a luxury hotel. Singh emphasizes that such recognition is crucial for artists, as it boosts their confidence and motivation. She advocates for the practice of giving 50 claps, the maximum allowed on Medium, to encourage and uplift writers, noting that this gesture costs nothing but has a significant impact on the recipients. Singh's perspective is informed by her own experience on Medium, where she learned that generous clapping is a way to foster a supportive community and inspire creativity.

Why I Love To Clap For Every Writer Who Writes From The Heart.

In appreciation of writers

Why do I clap for writers and that too 50 times? 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I appreciate the writers who write from their hearts. They may be new writers or old. It is sufficient if it is written with their best intention.

In one of my travels recently I was staying at a 5-star hotel in a city.

You will not even be able to imagine the spread of dishes at breakfast.

Seeing is believing! I was more than surprised, I was absolutely astounded by the spread.

Appreciation with claps to the chef 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

The hall was full of people and everyone was thanking the chef and congratulating him with so many people present the food could be so good.

The chef introduced himself as the chief. He brought 5 other chefs with him and told us their specialties.

Someone started a clap and then the whole hall started ringing with claps. It was quite melodious actually.

We clapped for the chefs and the chefs were happy. They raised their hands and then bowed. They thanked us because they had been appreciated for their food and quietly quitted from the hall.

We made their day and of course, the food was so good that they already made our day. We were happy.

Claps for the flute player 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

In the hall, there was a person playing the flute. (Selphie inserted with me.) The flute was melodious and the song numbers were old favorite numbers from Bollywood.

Everyone was listening and enjoying the flute but no one was appreciating him.

I was completely wrapped in the music and loved the song numbers he played. I went up to him and appreciated his flute. He told me that his name was Manmohan Rana and he would be happy if I put his photo with his name with mine appreciating the flute. I took a selfie with him.

I clapped for him and again people in the hall started clapping the flute player was so happy that he was appreciated.

Every artist likes to be appreciated. You should see the smile on their face. It touches their heart.

When a musician or an artist is appreciated by the audience he begins to get confidence and self-worth and begins to work harder on improving his skill.

Appreciation for writers. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Writers may be new or experienced, they need an audience. They spend hours researching a topic or looking for a new topic. They want to write for an audience. They work hard. They have challenges. They face writer's block. They cope with the fact that their mind goes blank when they begin to write.

Sometimes it takes several hours to write as there may be distractions at home.

A writer very often suffers from health issues with fingers hurting, shoulder freeze or pain or headache, and eye strain.

When the writer sits and writes, he feels he worked hard. He must get a reward of just a token of appreciation. This is the work of claps.

I give full 50 claps to a writer who writes with his heart.

When I first joined Medium, I did not know how many claps to give as there are no assessment levels for claps. I would give some 20–30 claps thinking if this article is worth it or not like a research paper with critical acclaim.

When I gave 10, 20, or 30 claps to someone, they would read my work and give me 50 claps in return for reading my article. This was their kindness to show a new writer that you should give all 50 claps to a writer as it has no effect on their earnings.

When I began to see 50 claps from every writer for me, I understood that I was to give 50 in return to the others to be happy too.

All claps do for a writer is to make them happy, and keep them inspired to be creative and motivated. This is the side perk that makes the writer uplifted.

To wrap up

Clap for the writers. Clapping does not make us small. We rise and everyone has a feel-good factor. So I clap 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽genuinely with happiness.

Giving one clap is like a slap on the writer's face whereas Medium gives us the power of 50. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Hoping that the new writers read this article and consider being a good audience for a writer giving 50 claps and encouraging them, to be inspired. motivated and creative in their writing work.

Lots Of love to all the writers.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Let your creative juices flow. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
