Why I love Jazz Music
Music of the soul but also food for thought
Jazz music to me, is like fine art, an expression of art in motion, sort of like the human experience. Although I have only recently begun listening to Jazz, it has been a great aid in the short period and calms me when I need it most.
I am slowly falling in love with the way Jazz speaks to me, right to the depths of my soul, like a gentle whisper, each word effortlessly so lucid and tranquil. The calming influence of Jazz speaks to the mind, body and soul.
It expands my mind, unlike any other form of music.
My brain must actively work while listening to capture the nuances and melodies with each soulful escapade. Each time I listen, I pick up different track elements, whether it’s the chords, trumpet, piano or saxophone.
My brain power is put to work when listening to Jazz; it propels me to think, feel, and fully appreciate the art form. It’s music unlike any other, with a unique style, where you have to pay attention to the musical instrumentation as opposed to lyrics.
Only through this will you understand what the composer is trying to tell us through the music. I love the energy Jazz brings the improvisation, the ability to start off with effortless chords that later show their complexities. The ever-changing themes and soft elements transition the listener into a completely different universe.
Jazz has an innate sense to capture your imagination and transport it through time and space like no other genre. This feeling takes time and effort to grasp. You will have to listen deeply and appreciate the diversity of what happens in a single rhythm.
Jazz can be complex yet so simple at the same time. Some call it the ultimate expression of perfection within chaos. Raw and uncut but shines beautifully like a diamond.
Jazz helps me with my creative writing. I put on a playlist and am instantly taken on an emotive journey of freedom and storytelling through the hypnotic and melodious music playing through the speakers.
In my mind, I know once on this journey, I will be producing a piece of work that is coming from a pure place with meaningfulness and freedom.
Freedom to feel, feel what is real and what feels right. It’s a freedom to forget life’s worries and just be present in the moment.
For me, Jazz is not only a beautiful melody or mesmerising solo but a deep conversation between the music and listener. I genuinely believe Jazz is the DNA of the soul. It’s an entirely satisfying experience that washes away the stains and dirt of everyday life.
Jazz excites the heart to have a cosmic dance with the fullness of the universe.
I love Jazz music as it gives me the freedom of spontaneity and poetic power to craft my articles and speak directly from the soul.
It allows me to be authentic and capture those feelings of joy, happiness, stillness, sadness and of longing for peace, all at the same time.
