Writing One Article a Day Isn’t for Everyone, But if You Do, The Journey is Amazing
Write to feel fulfillment. It holds you accountable to your goals and helps you grow as a person. I teach you about Medium Enhanced Stats as well.

Writing started out as an activity that was therapeutic and something that I would do every once in a while.
As I noticed my earnings rise, people actually began to reach out to me. They did so through email, comments, other social media, etc. I realized I was making a bigger impact than I expected.
I was gaining a few reads here and a few followers there, but I wanted to hit a home run and make an even more significant impact. I want to leave a legacy here on Medium.
I wanted to write at least one article a day. One story a day puts a bit of pressure on you, but it’s well worth it in the long-run.
Based on Medium Enhanced Stats
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you download the Medium Enhanced Stats tool. It’s a free tool in the Google Chrome Store, and it shows you so many stats about your writing.
This tool has helped me keep myself accountable for the results I want to see for my blog, which is growth. Writing on Medium is an investment of my time and energy. I want to see the gains as I would after purchasing shares in the stock market.
With the Tool, You get to see the following:
- How many articles you’ve written
- View Counts
- Reads
- Read Ratio in Total
- Fans
- Claps
- Claps per fan
- Responses
- Which stories you posted each day.

In my stats, I’ve written 259 articles, and I haven’t even been a writer for a year. In no way am I bragging because some people have only posted 10 articles and are absolutely crushing it with reads and followers.
We all run our own races, so don’t compare yourselves to them either. Just focus on everything you’re doing.

In this image, you’re able to see that the black dot beneath each bar on the bar graph means that I posted an article for the day. If you hover over the black dot, you’ll be able to see which stories you published that day to see which ones made the most impact for you.
I highly recommend this tool because when you’re not quite sure how you’re doing, this tool gives you clarity on what’s working and what’s not working.

The advanced stats are so incredible that they show you everything you need to see on the stats page on Medium. If you’re not taking advantage of this tool, you’re missing out on some crucial analytics that could save you a lot of time and energy.
The tool has helped me gain a sense of direction, motivation, and proper analysis of how I’m running my blogging side-hustle.
How I Feel When I Don’t Write
The days I don’t write at least one article a day make me feel like crap. I don’t get the thrill of opening the Medium app on my phone, and instead, see my stats page gain just over 100 views versus 500 views.
The dopamine rush isn’t there, and I feel guilty for not writing.
I feel as though I’m becoming more and more irrelevant, and that I’m stagnating my growth as a writer.
With daily practice in any skill, you’re going to see growth.
I know how hard it is to go on a five-mile run one week since the last time I ran. It takes so much extra motivation and struggles to get through it — all when I could’ve just been more consistent.
You lose your “clutch touch” if you take too long away from a skill you’re trying to perfect and craft every day.
How You Can Avoid Feeling Guilty
One of the biggest things I’ve dealt with as a serial entrepreneur is that I won’t ever stop grinding or hustling unless I get what I want.
I want to have $50,000 in my stock trading account by the end of 2020. I’m about half-way there. It’s a strong goal, and that comes with grinding in business, studying stocks, and writing to increase my income as much as possible.
The way that I avoid feeling guilty about living my life is by writing an article earlier in the day. Once I knock out the article, publish or schedule it, I feel as though I can do whatever I want for the day.
It’s almost like going to work.
You go to work to make the income necessary to live, pay your car bills, add money to savings, investments, plan for your future, etc. Writing feels a bit like a job to me, but I’m still enjoying it. I get to write, but it just feels like I have a quota to meet every day.
One per day is doable for me, nothing crazy, and I get to see more money in my Medium account if I do that, so I don’t mind!
