Why I Don’t Trust the Doctors? The Untold Truth about the Healthcare Industry
We are our own doctors-What they don’t tell you?
I did not know anything about the immune system and the way our bodies function until my junior year in college. From that time, I had a totally different view of the relationship between diseases and the healthcare industry.
Our body warriors: white blood cells
We have heard about the immune system, which consists of billions of white blood cells (aka leukocytes). They are the Y-shape weapons that fight against bacteria, viruses, or any foreign invaders to keep our bodies from infectious diseases and stay healthy. What happens if the immune system is disrupted? The answer is that foreign invaders will have the chance to attack our bodies and make us sick.
Realizing the importance of the immune system, I do not depend on doctors or drugs anymore, instead I do things to boost my immune system to stay healthy and robust. When I caught a cold, instead of taking drugs, I kept working out and do cardio exercises to make me sweat which release toxins. Also, I drank some hot ginger tea with honey and ate some fruits rich in vitamin C like orange, cherry, strawberry, etc. Taking rest and sleep enough 8 hours every night were essential as well. After a week, all of the symptoms of the cold faded away and I felt normal again. It sounds simple, however, the science behind that is pretty complicated.
The hospital bill is a big burden for everyone, my mom is not an exception
Here is another story. My mom has had shoulder pain for a few months, she could not do any hard activities or lift something heavy. Desperately, she went to the hospital and met a rheumatologist. He took a MIR image and gave her a bunch of medicine, some of those I found unnecessary. The hospital bill is a big issue for everyone, my mom is not an exception. Two weeks later, I asked how she felt. The answer was similar to what I thought. The pain was still there, it was just slightly reduced. Then I looked for information on how to treat shoulder pain. I knew that the tendons, ligaments, and muscles are made from proteins and physical therapy at home might work. She followed my advice, she ate more protein, drank more water to lubricate the shoulder joints, took vitamin C&D supplement to prevent inflammation. She also did some physical therapy exercises to keep the joint align and improve the mobilities of the shoulder. Finally, it worked to my expectation.
Health is the most precious property followed by happiness
The principle behind that is knowing how the body functions. Microorganism has evolved rapidly, so scientists can not keep up with that pace to find antibiotics. Also, pharmaceutical companies do not want to spend billions of dollars on antibiotic research due to low profit and turnover. That why it is much better to protect yourself from the ailment. Health is the most precious property followed by happiness. Your mental health and lifestyle are the two factors that play a crucial role in keeping you healthy. Whenever you are stressed or depressed, the hormones in your body become unbalanced leading to disruption in metabolism. Research showed that being lonely equal to smoking 10 cigarettes per day.
We are what we eat and the food we eat affects our metabolism and mental health
Your lifestyle including physical activities and eating habits. We are what we eat and the food we eat affects our metabolism and mental health. Do you see the difference when you eat a healthy and balanced diet? The microbiome in your gut love fiber and the muscle needs protein to build up. Keep away from processed food and fast food, they have lots of preservatives and trans fat, these are the silent killers causing cancer and obesity. Exercising each day for 30 mins effectively boost your metabolism, immune system, and burn excess fat which keeps you away from diabetes.
The healthcare system is not happy when everybody stays healthy because they can not make a profit from you. The hospitals today focus on huge profit other than providing care for patients. There have been lots of people who went bankrupt due to the medical bills, which is a social burden among the middle class. To stay away from this situation, it’s better to maintain a healthy lifestyle than depend on doctors.
