Why I Don’t Publish Very Often In Other Publications

I’ll be changing that soon!

Not too long ago, I saw a story talking about why people often choose not to publish in publications. They said that it stemmed from fear. I didn’t actually read it, so I can’t send you to that person or story, sorry!

I understand this completely! I can see people being afraid of rejection and the like! For me though, that isn’t the issue. I’ve published in other publications many times! Just not so much lately!

If fear has nothing to do with it, then why don’t I publish in other publications anymore? Well, it’s pretty simple. I don’t know when it’s going to get published. It could be the same day, within hours, or even minutes of submission.

It could also be the next day, or several days later. I like to have two stories out every day. I write “longer” stories that are usually a few minutes long and a short form. If I submit to other publications, I have no clue when they’re going to publish my story.

I may end up not having the two stories published per day that I want. The thing is though, I know that publishing in other publications is a good way to get new eyeballs on your stories. So logically, I do want to keep publishing in other publications!

What I’ve decided to do is to keep self-publishing on my own publications as I’ve been doing. I’m also going to try and write an extra story at least once or twice a week. These will be bonus stories that I’ll submit and will just add an extra story on whatever day they’re published.

This seems like a good way for me to keep control of when my stories are published while still helping me get more exposure!

I’d mentioned not long ago that I’m venturing into erotic writing. As I don’t intend to write a lot of them all the time, it makes sense to maybe make some of those my extra stories per week! I’ll also share other stuff as well!
