Why I consider that Success is a Journey not a Destination

Everyone sees success as something you have to wait for all your life and enjoy when you achieve it. What I believe is that success is a journey that you have to enjoy every day because you may never reach the final destination.

So in order to achieve success you have to learn every day and get better every day. It is very important to learn from your mistakes and make as few as possible as time goes by. No matter what success means to you, you must learn to enjoy the small successes as well as the mistakes. What we don’t realise is that time passes and if all you do is wait for success it is possible that life will pass you by and in the end when you have achieved it it will mean nothing to you.

As it is in my case success means being able to achieve financial independence, but I know that most likely this cannot come sooner than 15–20 years. One option would be to wait until I’m 50 to be able to enjoy life or to enjoy every single thing I do to achieve my dream.

Because I know it’s an extremely big dream that requires a lot of work I decided to break it down into small parts, so every month I have a challenge that I try to complete. This makes me enjoy every day but also challenges me to become better every day. I advise you to do the same, no matter how big your dream is, to divide it into small parts and then every month to do a challenge with you. That way your motivation will be at its highest level throughout the journey.

Another important thing to do is to celebrate every achievement. Even if it’s an extremely minor one for what success means to you it’s important to celebrate. I don’t know about you but at the end of the month if I have managed to achieve my challenge I go out to a restaurant with my girlfriend where we celebrate the fact that we have managed to achieve what we set out to achieve that month. Mentally it is extremely beneficial to celebrate a success in your life.

Finally what you must not forget is that no matter how hard it is you must not give up and you must move forward to achieve your success. I know there are days when you wish you could let it go easier but we will have plenty of time to let it go easier after we achieve our success.
