CamperVan, Window Photographer Extraordinaire

Why Have a Radio Antenna When it Ruins All My Photos?

And we never listen to the radio. We use Car Play!

First: With These Roads Above, We ARE NOT Streaming!

We are not streaming music. Sasha (my husband) has 300 GB on his iPhone full of music. It is not his full collection, but it is quite a bit. We use Car Play and have not heard the same song twice on the trip, nor do I think we will. He has been asked about it before, and I believe it is something like three months of listening, 24 hours/7 days straight, never hear the same song twice. He’s been collecting since he was 12 years old. He is 66 now.

I am a Window Photographer Extraordinaire

I tend to be the passenger for these road trips. This CamperVan has been the easiest (of our RVs) to drive, but I tend to go the 65 or less so it takes longer to get somewhere. I’d rather not run into an animal. While I have deleted most of the photos with antennas, I had to keep a couple, even with the antenna in the shot. Only problem, the camera focuses on the foreground, and not what you want to see.

The worst was when we went into Colorado the first time.

We had crossed the border into Colorado, and a dispensary was the first business we saw. We came upon it so fast that I was not able to maneuver myself to get the correct shot. Instead, I took two shots with the antenna in the middle of the picture.

After that, when I complained how it seemed ridiculous for an antenna, Sasha questioned, “Do we need it?”

I thought about it a moment. We listen to music and podcasts more than radio. We go to some remote areas, and we would get is static, country music, or talk shows, listening avenues we do not want. We have Sasha’s phone full with music and podcasts.

“Let’s take it off! It is not like we listen to the radio anymore,”said the RadioGirl, who used to listen to the radio all the time.

Sasha unscrewed the bolt and put some weatherproof tape over the opening. We still have the antenna in the back with our other non-necessities like extra tools.

Our Pictures Look Great Now!

I mean, they looked good before. But now, I do not need to maneuver myself nor contort my body to get that great shot. I just need him to clean the front windshield more often!

I create these stories and upload when I get internet. We have a massive Wilson Antenna on our roof to pick up the WiFi. The antenna helps me connect with the world.
