Why Giving is More Important Than Taking?
The Universal Law of Helping Others, or How We Become Leaders

Have you ever made a gift to another person? I bet you did. Just remember the last time you’ve done such a thing. What feelings have you felt?
I’ve noticed that in several years I have found it more pleasurable making gifts to other people, my friends and relatives. And at the same time, when I make a gift for myself, it’s not so bright, and no surprise or something like that.
I was wondering what’s the real magic hidden behind these doors. Is it something special or just a dopamine boost because of making others happy?
I have written several points, and they may make sense to you. But before we start, I want to compare two kinds of people. What is the difference between a giver and a taker?
The giver is a person who always has resources and energy not only for himself but also for other people as well.
These actions are appliable to this type of person:
- Takes care of other people
- Understands others’ pains
- Feels happy because of the help to others
This list can be endless. But now let’s compare the opposite side. The following parameters can describe the person:
- He feels that others must help him
- Everybody owes him
- He cares only about himself
This list can be endless as well. I just took the most bright characteristics of these two types.
Now, we can look closer at the tangible benefits the giver gets from all actions.
Getting More Energy
If you are helping other people, you must have a lot of energy to look after them. It’s not something that you should always look for.
Every day, you get the necessary portion of the point that you need. Your body and brain get used to it, and like a muscle, it trains consistently.
On the other hand, if you are always waiting for external help and unwilling to help others, your body doesn’t need energy, and you can become an angry, lazy person.
Getting More Resources
Like the previous reason, this is about having more resources like energy, money, etc.
For example, if your character thinks that some people in this world need help, then you have no choice. You have to earn more money, you have to work better, and you have to find more ways to improve society and the environment around you.
You only get something if you are waiting for something from other people. The only thing you can get is a minimum for your existence.
Getting More Pleasure
It is difficult to explain, but for such kinds of people, after helping others, you can feel an absolute pleasure. You just made someone smile, laugh, or feel good. Isn’t that amazing? And if you could apply it to many people. That’s a very high feeling that touches us with an energy that is not accessible to other people.
Having Better Life
After all, you should have a good life. Your surroundings will be good, because you should have a good rest, and enough resources for yourself to help others. The person who helps others will get help from the whole world because this person has a critical mission.
Here I want to advise one great book. I haven’t read it yet, but I watched a short review. And it’s on my list! So, if you want to learn more about it, check out this book.
By the end of this story, I want to give you some advice. Become more of a giver than a taker. Learn and create new things, and then share it with others. Even without any outcome, you should continue doing this. Give!
