Why Follow If You Are Not Going To Read?
I have 700 followers and it seems like none of them read my work.
I don’t understand, am I doing it wrong? I feel like I must be doing something right or else I wouldn’t be getting new followers, right? Or has Medium become a place of following just for following's sake?
Does No One Read On Here?
I spend an average of 60–90 minutes every day reading articles and stories on here. If I followed you back or am following you it is because I like your writing. I am followed by people I do not follow back because I either don’t like your writing or you haven’t posted anything yet.
I am grateful for the followers I have, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t understand why people follow writers if they’re not going to read their stuff?
I have been averaging about 7.6 new followers a day yet none of my stories are getting read. So far I have gained 76 new followers this month but I have only had 65 reads this month.
This tells me that people are following me just to follow me, which in itself is super humbling.
I guess what I am getting at is I don’t understand how writers on here are making money. I posted almost an article a day for the last 2 months and I have made $16.00.
I am not a greedy person, and I do not write to pander, I guess this explains why I do not get reads… Alas, I shall continue to write for myself in the hopes that someday I will have enough readers, as well as followers, to make a small income.
It Has Been A Rough Week For Me
I try not to let my moods get me down but this has been a hard week. I have been so inspired by the number of followers I have gotten that I guess it just makes me sad to think no one wants to read my stuff.
So I do not mean to dump my blues on here but this is a place of cleansing for me, a place to write it down and send it away.
Be troubled not by what I write for even as I scribe these words my feelings of sadness are lifting. I feel a motivational poetry article in the making so I will leave you for now.
