Why Dreaming About Your Goals Will Never Be Enough
It’s not as easy as counting sheep.

Dream about your goals and work towards achieving them.
There you go. Those are the 2 things that will help you attain your goals and achieve success.
That’s all I have to say.
Alright bye.
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa…Not so fast.
There is so much more than just dreaming about your goals and just working towards them.
Dreams are what you want to achieve. But the thing that most people forget about is that in a dream, you can do anything you want. In your dreams, nothing is the limit and because of this, you tend to have a false perception about how easy it is to achieve your goal.
You could have a goal of having the highest GPA in your graduating class. If you dream about this, chances are high that you won’t actually realize what you have to really do to get there.
People get so into dreaming and what they would do if they have a million dollars. People already start dreaming that they will buy a brand new Tesla, a mansion, expensive clothing and shoes, etc. when they achieve their goal and get a million dollars.
Dreams are just another perception or viewpoint of reality. Because it’s not actual reality, people tend to underestimate the hard path to success and their goals.
When you wake up, your dream is gone and you are left with no magical powers, no high-tech droids to help you reach your goal, etc. You wake up to reality and then it hits you that you haven’t actually accomplished anything.
Once you wake up and realize that you actually need to put in some work to make some progress towards your goal, you have to do 2 things.
You first have to tell yourself that NOTHING in this world can be achieved without both:
DESIRE
PERSISTENCE
Desire

Humans don’t do anything in this world without a desire.
Students go to school because they want to grow up and have a stable job and they know that they can’t achieve it without going to school. That is desire.
We brush our teeth twice a day (hopefully) because we know if we don’t, our mouths will stink and we might get cavities. We don’t want bad breath and cavities. That is desire.
We regularly take showers (hopefully) because we desire to cleanse ourselves to prevent a buildup of germs, bacteria, and dirt.
You might be thinking to yourself:
“This is nothing new. Of course, things can’t be done without desire. Goals also cannot be achieved without desire. Why are you telling me this?”
The reason why desire is so important is because oftentimes that is one of those things that will help you succeed and power through any failure, obstacle, or problem.
If you have the desire to achieve your goal or success, then that desire will forever be etched in the back of your mind. With this desire, you will be able to successfully power through any failures or setbacks.
Sure, you might have to work a lot harder to overcome that failure but if you know that your desire is to achieve your goal, then you will keep working and working to get to that desire.
This brings me to my second point.
Persistence

Persistence and desire go hand in hand. No matter how strong your desire is, you can’t achieve it without actually working towards it.
You have to have persistence. Persistence is that type of quality that will keep you going no matter the circumstances. People that are persistent don’t use any excuses or try to get out of difficult situations by quitting.
No, persistent people are hard-working people that understand that failure and setbacks are part of the journey.
No road is always smooth. Sure, some sections of the road may be smooth but chances are extremely high that you will encounter some rough patch that will be bumpy.
When a car encounters some sort of irregularity or bump in the road, those cars don’t turn away. Sure, people are the ones that drive those cars and they don’t care if a big piece of metal moves irregularly while crossing the bump.
But just focus on the concept for now.
Those cars easily cross any bump or rough patch on the road. The cars themselves don’t cross smoothly but experience roughness which the passengers inside the car can feel when it crosses over the bump. That crossing over while knowing that the road is rough represents persistence.
Persistence is what drives so many people to achieve remarkable feats. Persistent people don’t ignore failure but embrace it. These people understand that failure is just another way to not solve the problem.
Takeaways
Desire + Persistence = Success
If you want the most simplest formula to success, then it’s the one above.
Both of these coexist together.
Having a clear idea of what you want to achieve helps you stay on the right path no matter what external circumstances come.
To keep going in that straight path, persistence is required. Persistence will keep you in a straight line no matter what obstacles or failures are thrown on your path.
Keep following this formula and over time, actual progress can be made that will keep taking you closer to your goal.
