Why Does Relaxation Feel So Uncomfortable?

Capitalism got me trained to work myself into the ground. No more!

I love having a packed schedule. At the end of the day, I feel fulfilled. Wasted time, on the other hand, makes me feel guilty. Because of how capitalism has conditioned me, rest and rejuvenation feel like wasted time.

This week, I want to work on breaking out of that. I want to fit rejuvenation into each day: meditation, journaling, reading.

Sadly, I have to intentionally schedule these activities in. If I leave my body and mind to their own merits, it will eat Hot Cheetos and watch Bad Girls Club all day.

This is a fine schedule for some days. Not all. I’m going to create alarms on my phone to remind myself to refuel my mind and body. Fingers crossed that when I hear their cheery tone, I’ll listen — and not just eat Hot Cheetos and watch Bad Girls Club.
