Why Does Music Help Us Get Into The Groove?

Not just literally but mentally too.

My mental focus often happens when listening to music through my headphones.

With the right playlist, my focus has no boundaries. I am able to get so into my own zone that I’ve no idea what else is happening around me. I’m so focused I don’t even realise what time it is, what I’m doing and how far I’ve accomplished until I snap out of that focus and take a step back to realise — wow, how did I manage that?

Has music ever made you feel this way?

Music is so good for our creativity, our soul; or everything – It’s magic. Magic to my ears quite literally.

Through many studies, it’s been proven that music can aid productivity by providing motivation and boosting your mood when completing a task. Some music can trigger the release of Dopamine, “a neurotransmitter which elicits a focused response”. Dopamine is responsible for enhancing alertness, motivation, focus and happiness.

Depending on what music you listen to, can really make a difference. I’ve recently discovered Flow State, a podcast designed to help you focus.
