Why Do We Fight Against Our Own Interests?
Thrifty word challenge #12: Fiat
First, a caveat. In order for what I am advocating to work, the citizens must care about what the constitution says, understand what it says, and finally, we would have to change our constitution. A constitutionally controlled Fiat currency is necessary for the success of a modern, just, moral society. A Constitution that supports this thesis would lay down the rules of currency valuation, prescribe a modest broad graduated tax, control new money creation, national debt, and would prescribe and prioritize a basic national budget. The constitution would give a very little latitude to the elected official toward budget modification.
This challenge was a difficult one and prompted me to stray from my desire to write fiction or did it?
