Why Do We Constantly Question Ourselves?
All we need to be happy is to be the best version of ourselves
Why do humans waste so much time questioning themselves? We are who we are, we are what we are. There is literally nothing new under the sun. It’s all been done before.
The only sliding scale is how we judge and evaluate others who may differ from us in some ways. People are wired in different ways, but we are all humans and have no reason to question ourselves or to judge others.
People come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. People are of different races, ethnicities, languages, customs, and habits.
These differences are products of genetic drift, geographical locale, and favor and fortune.
Every person is born innocent and has the innate quality to get along with anybody else, to prosper, and function in society peacefully.
Some people are obviously bent on evil and demonstrate it every day in every way. Ironically, they are the only ones who never question themselves.
They pride themselves on being born to be bad. It is their defense against life, against those they mistakenly perceive as inferior.
Bullies are all cowards inside. They are the only ones who need to be brought to understand themselves. They fear “the other” because of superficial differences that don’t really matter anyway.
Because beneath these superficialities, we are all the same. We are all more alike than different. Nobody is born inherently evil.
Thoreau once said, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.”
He was referring to the fact that too many people cling desperately to jobs that don’t satisfy them, don’t have enough leisure time, and think money, possessions, or awards will improve their social status and make them happy.
It won’t. It never has and it never will.
The real value in life comes from within. We don’t need to be blazing comets of light and illumination all the time, but we all have flashes of that quality inside of ourselves.
Nobody should work at jobs they hate, it produces negative emotions. Having social status like kings and queens do as an accident of birth is a sham, and possessions are the most worthless and fleeting of all.
We all need to focus on our similarities rather than our differences. There is a certain innate goodness in each of us, and we need to cultivate that quality in ourselves and others.
If we are living a quiet life, making enough money in a job we like to live comfortably on and have the love and affection of our family and significant others, what else do we need?
If we can factor in the joy of having children to support in every way, especially emotionally, to stimulate their imaginations, as well as provide for their physical needs, we are way ahead of the game. The beat goes on.
There is no room to allow pettiness, spite, and jealousy to ruin our lives. There is no reason to let this happen. We are all born with free will, why squander it? This is a trap that many people fall into.
We are better than that, people. Live and let live is a philosophy that will carry us serenely throughout life.
Discovering the joy of simple pleasures is a surefire way to live our lives.
If we just freely acknowledge our common similarities instead of dwelling on any perceived differences, real or imagined, we will all be happier.
And the pursuit of happiness is yet another life goal we all share.
We all have everything to gain and nothing to lose by accepting rather than rejecting any slight differences between us. Love is all there is.
There is no need to question ourselves, the answer lies within.
In the end, the love we take is equal to the love we make. We are all connected…
