Why do people pay $ 50,000 to buy a watch?
Basic examples to understand

Now I want you to think about the watch brands you can think of. Yes, $ 50,000 is a huge amount for us. Even $ 50,000. And we may not even see that fraction in our lifetime.
Maybe we won’t even be able to spend it. Really big money. How can these people give that money? This is our first question, but this is the way we look at it. You will understand better a little later. Because sometimes we do the same thing. But how?
The event is actually like this; When I asked you about watch brands, you actually only thought of 1–2 brands. And you probably don’t know other brands.
And we can say that this obscurity shows that those watch brands are actually very successful. Because each watch is sold at an unimaginable price. Well, if a person under normal conditions, in other words, not everyone knows these watches, why did I say they were so successful?
Because these watch brands know their target market very well. There is an audience that can give 8–10 million dollars a watch. He knows who this audience is. He also knows the social environment of this mass. If you are not someone who can buy that watch, or if you do not have such a friend, you will not know these brands.
Here is the key. Those brands did not make any effort to show the watches they produced too poor people like us and did not even pay 1 cent.
Because they know we can’t get it. Why would they waste time and money in vain? For many people, drinking coffee at Starbucks is a luxury. But around Starbucks, you won’t be able to see that time.
Even the places where they sell watches are special. For example, if you get on a VIP plane with a ticket price of 25 thousand dollars, you can see the advertisement of this watch somewhere close to the seat you are sitting on. So you will probably never see it, me too :)
So how can they pay so much for this watch? This is normally something like unreasonable :). But now let’s look at this from their perspective. The behavior we all do is actually pretty much the same. For example, imagine this. We don’t wear a watch that is not very expensive.
And you are in a meeting. When you put your hand on the table to express your opinion, you will be a very small person to them. They will ignore you and what you say. Another day you are in the same environment but this time you wear a watch worth $ 10 million.
And you put your hand on the table. You said: “It might be better if you do it like this in this project”. In fact, you said the same things in the previous meeting. So your words are the same. But eyes are on the $ 20 million watches. And they say “Sir, you’re telling the truth”.
This shows that, no matter how painful it is, the brand of clothes and accessories you wear has a profound effect on your words. It depends on them whether people care or not, but we cannot say the same things about every person. Because, in this life, you can meet someone who values a person just because he is a human.
Returning to our topic after this footnote, we can say that. When we think about it, others can see our behavior in this way. Actually, we do the same. For example, we go to a shopping mall. We saw 2 t-shirts.
Everything is the same, but one has a very famous brand logo and the price is 10 times higher than the other. To look cooler in the socio-cultural environment we are in, we prefer the expensive and feel more confident.
Let’s look at it from a different perspective. We went to a shopping center again. We bought products worth $ 95 in total. And on the way to full pay, we saw a campaign.
There is a 30-dollar discount on your purchases of $ 220 or more. Yes, we bought another $ 125 product, although we didn’t need it. We think we have a profitable shopping right? Let’s go now, let’s explain this to an African boy who is dying of starvation. And let’s tell him we did something very logical.
So, what does that starving African boy think of us? He will look like we did to the man who gave 10 million dollars to that watch. Even worse.
Because there was no problem with any of our vital activities while looking at the man who bought the watch. But that African boy.. (I said this to give an example, it could be thought of as any starving child.)
Finally, I can say that we can all do the same nonsense in our own sociocultural and socioeconomic environment. Maybe 5 minutes after reading this post, we’ll still be doing the same. Because in order to be happier, the brain forgets bad events.
Thank you..
