Why do my Medium Stats keep Declining?
I went from 2k reads per day to… 200 reads per day
I started writing on Medium.com in August 2022.
Since I started, I always had a slow but nice & steady increase in reads, views, subscribers… But the past few months, things are not going well anymore.

… I earned $553.85 on Medium.
That was insane, I never expected this.
But this “success” motivated me to write more, put more effort and time into my writing.

I have been consistently publishing 3 articles per week, and actually putting time and effort into them (no, not a simple chatGPT prompt).
So… what is happening?
Honestly? I don’t know.

I didn’t change anything. My writing style is the same, my topics are the same…
I suspect that Medium somehow “boosted” me — however there’s no evidence about that.
Let’s check my statistics
I noticed that most of my traffic came from a few articles.
All these articles were in the “make money online” niche:

And more, actually about 85% of my views, reads, revenue came from 1 article:
“My 8 Sources of Income in 2023, that will Make me 100k”
I guess I just got lucky with that one, and that it’s now slowly “fading out”.
Anyhow, it’s clear that people obviously love this kind of topic, so, what I’m going to try now is to write new, better, cool articles in that niche.
I am currently writing about:
- How I’m selling Print on Demand products on Amazon
- How I’m selling digital products on Etsy
- How it’s going with my YouTube Automation business
- An update about the “earn 100k article”
… and a few more amazing ones. Stay tuned!
I was upset
For the past weeks, I was really upset with these declining numbers.
However, I now realize that I shouldn’t be.
First of all, I was already very lucky that I got such amazing response and results on those articles, and it was simply too good to be true.
Literally, that 1 article mentioned above generated me $800. It was a “unicorn” that went viral.
So what’s next?
I’m just going to keep doing what I do. Keep writing about my daily life, my hustles, my struggles, and sharing them here. Furthermore:
- I’m going to try and grow slowly but steadily.
- I’m going to finish building my own blog website.
- I’m going to create more digital products to sell on Etsy.
- I’m going to find a way to easily start a very nice YouTube channel with the contents that I’m writing here.
This was a good lesson for me. I should be patient, and realize that slow growth is a million times better than no growth at all!
I’m sure that if I keep it up like I’m doing now, within 1 year my results will have grown significantly — just like they did with my Print on Demand business by the way!
