Why Communication Is the Key to Success?

Inspired by ‘Never Eat Alone’ by Keith Ferrazzi

The most absurd thing is that I read this book whіle having lunch with coworkers. It seems that in reality, I’ve tried everything. Because I never eat alone when I was reading this book.

I finished reading the book with 134 highlights and 10 bookmarks. I had 3 different colors when highlighting.

💚 Green — ideas & quotes 💛 Yellow — books that were mentioned 🩷 Pink — very powerful ideas, STOP and think

Now I want to share with you some ideas that I have highlighted in pink.

You can’t do anything alone.

One of the cardinal rules is that you can accomplish anything by knowing the right people and knowing how to leverage those connections. And that’s very true! Think of a time in your life when you achieved something or got closer to a goal because of someone. In my life, this has happened often. And I’m grateful to everyone who helps me move forward.

Making connections between people is one of the most important skills in both business and life. Even a simple conversation with the right people can open big doors for you. Value your time and the people around you.

The key to success in just one word: Generosity.

“It cannot be said of any human being that he or she is self-made. Our formation is influenced by thousands of other people. Every one who has done a kind deed for us or spoken a word of approval has contributed to the formation of our character and thoughts and has contributed to our success” — quote by George Burton Adams.

Until the willingness to ask for something and give something in return matures in you, you won’t get half of what you want.

Ask ‘How can I help you?’ instead of ‘How can you help me?’

I believe that relationships between people and even entire organizations should be built on trust. I think there are a lot of words hidden about value. Value that we can give to others. Against, enabling others to feel their value. I’m sure the next question might be: “Why should I help?”. It means: which value can you bring to people? Think about this before you ask someone for help.

A goal is a dream with a specific deadline

I’ve read a lot about it. I taught kids in school to see the difference. The difference between a dream and a goal. Now you also need to memorize what dreams you have. And they will remain dreams until you set a deadline for them. Just one moment — a deadline — and your dream becomes a goal. A goal that has an end date. Of course, you can change the date, time, or meaning of that goal for yourself. But the important thing is that everyone needs to have dreams in order to turn them into achievable goals. All disciplined dreamers have one thing in common — following their goal.

One of the most important things is to put your goals in writing. Force yourself to put them on paper. A wish that is not written down will remain a dream. When it’s on paper, it’s a program, it’s a goal!

Your goal should be SMART:

Specific (The goals should have maximum detail. You must be clear about what actions are needed to realize the objectives, set deadlines for execution and criteria for evaluating the results.) Measurable (If you don’t believe in their attainability yourself, you won’t do anything.) Achievable (Leave your comfort zone and set yourself a challenge that requires risk and involves uncertainty.) Relevant (Here’s where you need to think about the big picture. Why are you setting the goal that you’re setting?) Time-Bound (As soon as the next goal is achieved, set your next goal.)

Human ambition grow in proportion to the size of their surroundings.

I repeat once again: you should always filter the people around you. Don’t do it too often! But know your own limits. If you don’t see growth in the people around you, that’s a clue that you won’t see your own growth. People need to inspire each other. Share their stories, their failures, their successes. You need to see people’s actions. You need to take the same actions. If this is not happening, you need to reflect and start by choosing the people you want to become.

A person’s accomplishments depend on the scope of his dreams and the extent to which his plans coincide with his mission. People get jealous of you when you try to do something they don’t think you’re capable of doing. You just have to overpower yourself.

Success is achieved by one who gives more than he receives.

This may sound like a reminder of the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs. But the idea is to give a little more than you have already received. This is an opportunity to get more in the future. More than you have now. It’s a cycle. Giving more in order to receive more.

The deepest need of human nature is the desire for recognition.

I want to write lot about this. We all need recognition. It’s a kind of feedback. But on a higher level. We can ask for feedback or get it unexpectedly. And for recognition, we need to have a bunch of feedback. Recognition starts with a workplace culture, a culture of mutual respect for everyone and a code of conduct that applies to everyone. It also means holding everyone accountable for what they do or don’t do without fear of retribution for things that don’t go according to plan.
