Why Can’t You See Me?
Am I not your little girl too?
In search of your recognition, I’ve wondered what I must do, For you to finally see me and acknowledge my pain.
Thank you, I’m sorry.
As these words have been my companions, But from your lips, they’ve remained Strangers throughout my life.
I watched as your heart closed itself off to me, While my body crumbled, falling to the floor, Literally shouting for help, sadly, only Your silence echoed back and buried my pain.
Your indifference choked off my tears, Leaving me with red, the color of tired eyes, And lost hope.
On all my pillows are piles of my unspoken desires, Things I yearn to hear from you, haunting my dreams, Staining my reality with the ink of longing.
As I stand here, still and contemplative, Feeling my thoughts rise with the dawn from the east, They whisper to me in unison:
What do I have to do for you to see me? Am I not your little girl, too, dear Daddy?
For you who will read my poem, I only have a big Thank you for your precious reading time :)! If you do enjoy this one and are interested to read some more, here below are some of my other works:
