Summary

The author of the web content expresses skepticism about the necessity and effectiveness of widespread mask-wearing as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing personal freedom and questioning the accuracy of coronavirus data.

Abstract

The article titled "Why Are You Wearing a Mask?" delves into the author's perspective on the societal shift towards mandatory mask-wearing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, the author describes a personal journey from indifference to concern as the virus spread globally. Despite acknowledging the severity of the pandemic and the initial need for safety measures, the author challenges the continued enforcement of masks, viewing it as an infringement on personal choice and autonomy. The piece questions the reliability of coronavirus statistics and the motives behind mask mandates, suggesting that the public has been manipulated into accepting a new norm that may not be scientifically justified. The author argues for individual responsibility in health and hygiene over blanket mandates, advocating for the freedom to choose whether or not to wear a mask.

Opinions

  • The author feels that mask-wearing mandates are an overreach and an unnecessary imposition on personal freedom.
  • There is skepticism about the accuracy of COVID-19 case numbers and the intentions behind how data is presented and used.
  • The author believes that people have been unduly influenced by media and authority figures, leading to an overestimation of the average person's understanding of the pandemic.
  • The article suggests that mask-wearing has become a fashion statement or a performative act rather than a practical health measure for some individuals.
  • The author posits that the human face is a unique identifier and that covering it with a mask is an affront to individual identity and the natural process of breathing.
  • There is a conviction that the public should question the narrative presented by health authorities and the media rather than accepting it without critical thought.
  • The piece implies that the focus should be on personal health and hygiene practices, such as handwashing and overall wellness, rather than on mandated mask-wearing.
  • The author expresses concern that society is being conditioned to accept increasing levels of social control under the guise of public health.

Why Are You Wearing a Mask?

What is the point anymore

Less than one year ago, the world was swept with what we now refer to as the coronavirus, or COVID-19. Even after hearing that the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic, I was intrigued — but not scared or worried.

After all, I am a 25-year-old male in great health — and I had no real reason to be afraid.

Once case numbers began rapidly rising, the safety procedures that followed were drastic.

And for a good reason. People were getting sick—lots of people.

And some of them were dying.

The Narrative

We were told that to relieve the spreading of such a deadly disease, social distancing was required, and thus, the mask market was born.

Not long after, society went into a mandatory lockdown for several months.

This is fine and dandy on the surface; disregard the fact that that decision may or may not have thrown us into a recession, but hey…

It had to be done, they might say. For humanity's sake, they might say.

And I would mostly agree with them.

So we all play our little part, stop what we were doing to put food on the table, and obey.

Great, all is well here.

Right?

A New Reality

After some meandering around while things crashed and burned (literally), The authorities finally allowed society to keep spinning its wheels.

We could all come outside again—business as usual.

Except this was not usual.

Social distancing is “required,” and so is wearing a surgical mask to help protect yourself and others from contracting a deadly disease.

I mean, who doesn’t want to protect their body, their temple?

Keep the germs away! I have my mask, little gems, you can’t harm me.

Hilarious.

I Don’t Follow the Crowd Blindly, and You Shouldn’t Either.

When the enforcement of masks began upon reopening, especially being on the front lines of the service industry in a restaurant, I began thinking:

“This is all super great and lovely,

and I am so happy to see us being safe.

Except for one small thing:

I don’t enjoy being forced to wear a mask on my face.

*Gasps from the crowd*

I know, ridiculous, right?

How absurd of me to feel such a way about my own face, despite all of the evidence suggesting I should wear one.

Stop Acting Like Blind Sheep

When it comes to the enforcement of something over my face and mouth — I do not have it. And there are others like me.

Perhaps you’re fine with the whole thing.

Maybe you’ve accepted fate — the new reality.

It’s a new fashion piece!

Look at the new mask I got! Look how cool the design is! And look at me posing for my social media wearing a mask!

Gross.

You have a beautiful God-given face to show off and be proud of, not a piece of polyester that was made in China where the virus initially began.

What kind of reality are you living in?

Apparently, the kind where people are literally afraid of walking down the road outdoors without having a mask on.

Beautiful Sunday afternoon. With the family at the park. The sun is out, and there’s a lovely breeze. And you have a mask on.

What are you doing?!

Or what about the people wearing a mask in their personal vehicle?

I am utterly speechless, and these people continuously blow my mind.

And what about the people wearing a mask in their personal vehicle?

How fucking afraid of the world you must be?

I’m not sure why I’m such a rebellion to the mask. But I am sure that God didn’t design me to wear one.

Mandating us to continue wearing them is unnecessary but blatantly wrong at this point in the game.

I don’t care that I am not medically qualified to speak on the subject. It’s my body and my experience.

There’s nothing normal about you having to wear a mask over your face. You would know if you seriously needed one.

Clothes? Yes.

Maybe some shoes? Sure.

But a mask should not be a normal article of clothing in the average person's wardrobe unless they specifically need it for whatever job it is they're doing.

Like dealing with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory, for example.

Or perhaps if I were the one studying COVID-19, a mask seems pretty necessary, right?

Obviously, I don’t need you to illustrate the importance of a facial mask in certain contexts and situations. They have their place in the world, just like everything else.

Not on regular people running to the store to grab milk or pump gas.

You Don’t Know Anything.

Less than a year ago, you didn’t even know what the coronavirus was.

Now, thanks to the mainstream media and the internet — everyone thinks they’re a scientist or an expert on the subject because they read something from a credible source or because you’ve done just so much research yourself and gobbled up whatever bits of information were available on the internet.

Cut it out. Please stop it.

You don’t know anything.

The WHO does a great job of attempting to record numbers and analyze the coronavirus stats worldwide.

But how can you possibly be led to believe that all of those numbers are accurate? Even looking at the data in detail reveals the recordings of case numbers don’t add up.

On a day-to-day basis, the case numbers can be drastically different.

How is that possible?

How can there be so much fluctuation in the data?

Have hospitals been given been incentives to record deaths as coronavirus related?

It’s not a perfect system. And I don’t have the answers. But these are questions that should probe further thinking about how data is portrayed and used, for or against you.

Quit engaging the fantasy of being an expert in the spread and transmission of deadly diseases. Leave that to the experts. And even then, their opinion or analysis of whatever it is they’re discussing or analyzing should only bear so much weight on your conscious.

It’s pathetic. And embarrassing. If the scientists, government, media, and everyone else you trust told you something new was in the air, making people's hair fall out, you’d believe them.

Then we’ll all be mandated to wear plastic bags over our entire head, and you idiots will do it.

Don’t believe me? That’s fine. You don’t have to.

It may not be plastic bags, but it will be something.

Closing

They’ve already manipulated you into thinking wearing polyester over your mouth and nose is normal. I am dead serious. Think about it.

Masks have been proven to reduce the spread and inhalation of deadly diseases. Just how condoms were designs to help prevent the spread of HIV and sexual diseases.

Though it may or may not be in that person's best interest to protect their genitals for various reasons, you don’t see anyone enforcing the use of condoms.

Why? Well, not only would that be weird and mostly impossible due to the intimacy of said acts, but because at the end of the day, it’s that person's health and that person's body!

Out of all of your body parts, your face is the pinnacle of your identity. It’s who you are, physically.

It’s uniqueness, and beauty is what separates you from other humans.

It’s also where you breathe oxygen into your lungs, without anyone or anything interrupting that simple and beautiful God-given process.

Mandating that to be covered up is a tragedy in and of itself.

I know, you thought you were protecting yourselves. Those scientists are pretty convincing.

If halting the economy and locking ourselves in our houses was enough to slow the transmission of a deadly virus (and even that decision is questionable.), then why are we wearing masks?

It appears to be less about protecting people and more about pushing the envelope to see how far we can be socially controlled.

Especially when there’s little evidence even proving the existence of disease around you.

Have common sense and staying hygienic.

Wash your hands regularly throughout the day.

Take care of yourself by eating well, and exercising, and let nature run its course.

Stop being afraid. Stop thinking every piece of information that comes from above is gold, and for humanity's’ sake — stop wearing the mask.

That’s all for now.

Thank you for reading.
