Why are women not protesting about the eradication of their gender?

This headline may seem slightly over the top but stick with me.

Much has been written lately about women and men changing genders.

Many women are protesting, rightly in my opinion, about men who identify as women having the right to enter female only changing rooms and women’s toilets.

Feminists are up in arms claiming that women’s rights are being eroded.

But where have they been for the past twenty years or so?

Why have they not been protesting about a more insidious move that has been going on for years and is now accepted as normal?

I am talking about the way people of both genders are referred to as “Guys”.

There have been lots of Guys throughout history and in the present day.

Sir Guy of Gisborne, Robin Hood’s love rival. Guy Fawkes, the would-be royal assassin, Guy Ritchie, Madonna’s ex-husband, and there are many more out in the world.

But all these Guys are men. This has been confirmed by the musical Guys and Dolls. Guys are male. Dolls female.

So why are mixed gender groups, or all women groups addressed as Guys? And why do women not raise a fuss when this happens?

Would a waiter address an all-male group as gals? I don’t think so. But he or she will happily address an all-female group as Guys. And not one of the women will complain.

Why, after years of fighting for their rights are women ignoring the way, they are gradually being erased from social life? Where are today's suffragettes and why are they not up in arms?
