Nothing. Days will turn into weeks, weeks into months and yet another year will pass. Why Are So Many People Unhappy In Their Jobs?

I’ve been thinking about happiness in the workplace quite a bit recently. It might sound a bit 21st Century woo woo, but happiness matters, but it’s not a given.

I was talking to one of my Senior Executive pals a while back, and we figured out that if he was unhappy, it impacted his ten direct reports and inadvertently a further 250 reporting into these Senior managers

If you then take this to another level and include personal relationships, he realised that the impact was far more expansive.

Workplace Blues

We spend 1/3 of our time at work, so it makes sense that we enjoy what we do. You’d be surprised as to how many people are unhappy. I should know; I used to be one until I found my dream job. Now, as an Executive Coach, I see quite a few.

If we’re spending 2/3 of our waking hours at work, and we’re not happy, it shows in our delivery, but it also impacts other areas of our lives and potentially others.

Work Expectations Change

There’s been a lot of change in the air, especially after the COVID-19 Pandemic. The lockdown and the last few years have made people rethink their priorities.

Why Work Sucks List

I’m sure you could add a whole load more to the list below, but here’s my top 10 list of why so many people are unhappy in their jobs
