Why a work week should not stop on Friday

All of us look forward to the weekends. It allows us to recharge, enjoy time with family and friends and get ready for the next week. For many of us, it is also a time to escape our dreaded workplace. Making a difference in this world requires passion and determination. It also means that there should be no limit to how much you can work by limiting it to a five-day workweek. When it is genuinely something you care about, weekends should also be part of the workweek.

Living and breathing work is the key to making a difference in the world. When it is something that you are determined to do, the day of the week will not feel any different. Your drive and passion will keep you motivated every day. You will want to scale greater heights every single day to make a more significant contribution to society. The process begins by acknowledging that it is vital we are actively engaged in a field that we are passionate about. Whether this is your private business, non-governmental organisation or a new project — the goal is the same. The dedication required to meet this goal means that we have to work towards it all day, every day. Every day that we wake up, we should be thinking of ways to meet this goal to serve our community better. Our brains need to be subconsciously thinking about new approaches and methods to reach the goals. On several occasions when we are seeking service on the weekend, we know that the service may not be open or not of the usual standard. This needs to change. Customers will come all day, every day and maximising revenue means that services must be of the same standard every single day. It is about a mentality change from understanding that achieving targets should not be a thing for weekdays.

For most of us, success is achieved by hard work and sacrifices. We are sacrificing family, time, energy and social life to make a life for ourselves. The workweek should not stop on Friday because we have made sacrifices for many years and even decades. Each day that we sacrifice a part of our lives could be used to work hard. We must use every single day we have to do our best and to work towards making a difference actively. We should not let the day of the week change that. Weekends are essential for us to recharge and socialise but not at the cost of forgetting our primary goals. As a society, many businesses are moving towards 7-day operations, but we all must do. We must change our mentality for the future and being adaptable to work every day to accomplish our dreams and goals.
