Abstract

The web content titled "Why a Souvenir Can Be So Important" emphasizes the emotional and sentimental value of travel souvenirs. It argues that souvenirs serve as tangible reminders of trips, events, and special moments, such as a honeymoon or a solo adventure. The author personally collects candles and notebooks from places they visit and suggests that souvenirs can range from practical items like Starbucks mugs to unique art pieces created by the traveler. The article also proposes that anything can be a souvenir, not just items purchased from souvenir shops. It invites readers to reflect on their own favorite souvenirs, the stories behind them, and how they are used or displayed. Furthermore, the piece is part of a "Travel Series" prompt, calling on writers to contribute their own stories about souvenirs, with the possibility of being featured in a Travel Column.

Why a Souvenir Can Be So Important

Remembering your travels

If you love to travel you may have bought a souvenir at least once. Some may think that it’s just another way to spend more but is it worth it?

A souvenir is something tangible that can remind you of a certain holiday, trip, place, or event. So the value goes higher because of the value you dedicate to it. It can be from the one of a lifetime trip you took by yourself or when you celebrated your honeymoon. The importance given is about what happened in that specific time in that specific place.

I have even read of someone collecting Starbucks mugs in every state in the USA. That’s a great challenge if you ask me, that collection will for sure create new memories.

As for me, since I love candles and notebooks, everywhere I go, I tend to search for these items. It may be difficult sometimes but why not get something you already like and that can be a great souvenir?

The beauty of it all is that ANYTHING can be a souvenir. I like those two items because I do use them. What is better than a practical souvenir?

Don’t get me wrong. Some may like getting big reindeer antlers to remember a hunt or get a garden statue of a Buda. You can go as big or small as you want! You don’t even have to go to a souvenir store to get one.

What if you like to draw and you decide to make a real memory and turn it into 2D art? Do you throw your plane tickets aways? What about the entrance tickets to the opera? You can decide what the souvenir can be and what it will further on mean to you. It’s a great way to remember your trips and it's a great conversation starter.

My favorite souvenir so far is of a Mexican doll. I loved that trip to Querétaro that I took with my immediate family. There was so much joy and we did truly have a blast! That doll brought so much joy to my little sister. She has also started a collection of her own now! If you see our home, you can find Mexican dolls that vary in all sizes.

While traveling, a must is to get a souvenir. No matter if it’s small or big, the meaning behind it is important.

With this being said, this week’s prompt is about souvenirs. What is your favorite one and why? How did you get it? Where were you? What happened and what did you do? Who did you go with? What is your craziest souvenir? Where do you have your souvenirs? Are they displayed or do you use them as everyday items?

I hope the section above can serve you for inspiration to create your own article… it can be a poem, essay, short-form; whatever your preference is.
